Sounds great, Julie, I can't wait to hear which ones you'll be sporting (I've been thinking about Ray Bans since last Summer too;-)

Thank you for the advice, I have changed my appointment to a store with a wider selection of frames, I'm quite taken by some of the Ray Ban styles but will have to see how they look. Thanks.

My new frames are a vintage style that has been tweaked and re-issued (see link below). They are by Lafont--part of their Reedition line; you might want to browse around their selection if you like vintage-looking frames :).

Oh how fun, Julie! I too adore vintage frames just as much as modern ones.

The specs you've linked to are classic. When I think of vintage eye frames, I think of this type of style:

http://www.vintagecateyeglasse.....efront.jpg

Or half rimmed styles, like what I'm wearing in today's blog post (tapered pleated trousers). Does that make sense?

Very good question, Julie, I'm going to follow this thread with interest (I too love vintage inspired frames and have been wondering about the same thing).

I have just read Srujana's thread and promptly reread your guidelines for spectacular spectacles! I'm having my eyes tested at the end of the month, I already wear specs when on the computer, driving (or being chauffeured) and reading and my eyes have deteriorated so I know I will be needing new lenses. Through a health scheme I'm in I also get to reclaim £60.00 so feel updated the frames is a must.

But here's where I get stuck, I love vintage looks but when it comes to vintage style frames I don't know the nice from the naff.

I'm drawn to tortoiseshell with a slight cats eye but what do you think? (I know I need to be careful not to overwhelm my features, I also have a petite head (I wear children's sun hats even though I'm 5ft 8") and only have a small amount of room between my socket line and eyebrows so anticipate fit issues)
http://www.specsavers.co.uk/gl.....ls/cookie/

I know I need to go and try a gazillion pairs but a little help would be much appreciated.
