I have one true turtleneck remaining in my wardrobe & I wear it out of necessity sometimes though I know it's totally wrong for my body type (short neck, big boobs). It makes me look like I have boobs growing out of my double chin. I try to lessen the impact by pairing it with a longer length necklace & throwing a jacket on top. I have a couple of the layering turtlenecks from the Gap from last winter & for some reason, the neckline on those are not high so at least I don't get the double chin phenomenon. Other than that, I have switched to cowl neck options.

heres a link- its about busty gals, but some of the same principles should apply

I think it also has some to do with bust size. I would think the perfect body for a TN would be a smaller busted long neck gal.
I am not big, but not small busted, and don't have a long neck (IMO). I own one turtle neck and wear it when I'm really in need of warmth, and I have to wear an open jacket and long necklace to help with the elongating effect. There is a fairly recent blog post on this too. I"llsee if I can find it.

Angie has mentioned in the past that turtlenecks and other high necklines are best avoided by short necks. I have found this to be true as well. My mom, who has a short neck, really hates them. Not only were they not flattering, but she found them uncomfortable. Too much fabric in a small space.

Average neck can probably get away with them but I don't know if it's the most flattering option. Still, sometimes we all need a change of pace. I wear them despite being busty so who knows.

Can turtlenecks be worn by all body types? What about those of us with short or average neck? Thanks!
