Pretty skirt and welcome to the forum! That's quite a classic style so I don't see it dating at all. See how often you end up wearing it and double up on the style in another colour if you wear this skirt a lot.

If you find it flattering on you, get a couple at that price in Aussie dollars. I haven't had any luck with tulip skirts, I'm a bit jealous that you can manage them! You'll get a lot of wear out of them this winter in Oz.

Welcome, Vanessa! Angie is in NYC at Fashion Week but I'm sure she'll be checking in periodically. That's a lovely skirt and I believe several of the ladies on the forum have recently purchased tulip skirts. I would be very tempted to duplicate at that price, especially since it is of good quality and figure-flattering.

The skirt looks something like the one in the link below, except that it has a row of small buttons that do up at the waistband, and some small darts that narrow the skirt a little at the knee.

Hi Angie,

I am hoping you can help me with something. I am a young professional and am in the process of building my business formal wardrobe (on a budget!). On sale, I recently found a tulip-shaped pencil skirt at 75% off. It is an all-seasons wool fabric and the cut is very flattering on my fairly boyish, rectangle body-shape.

My questions are: 1) I know that tulip shaped skirts are currently in fashion, but are they likely to go out of fashion soon? And 2) Given how flattering the skirt is and the amazing price (especially in Australia where we rarely have significant sales, particularly on quality professional clothing), is it worth buying several in different colours (say, navy pinstripe, grey, and charcoal pinstripe)? I never usually buy multiples of the same item in different colours and am worried that it would like as though I was wearing the same skirt. What is your opinion on this? They are not terribly expensive, but I hate buying clothing that I don’t get adequate use from. At the same time, I am finding it very expensive to build my wardrobe, this is particularly the case as I only want to buy clothing that will last and is made of quality fabric.

Thank you for your help!
