Another shout out for uniqlo. If you want to try an oversized fit, try a men’s small wool sweater. Great rich colors. I have an eggplant v-neck that keeps on ticking. Wear with or without a cami or button down/blouse to dial the vavoom up or down.

Regularly? Nope! Right now BR has had a lot, at least my local outlet shop, but in general its challenging. I default to black a lot, which works well, but have historically bought cooler colors (teal, purples, dark greens)-due to availability and dressiness level. For some reason clothing makers think people with autumn coloring are picking pumpkins all day or something!
Salmon is worth a try, its not bad on me, though maybe better for lighter more neutral skin tones than mine.

Thanks -- I followed your recommendation and ordered two sizes in Uniqlo. Even with the measurements online, it is hard to figure out what will fit. And, yes, I ordered some in the reds/browns range. I also ordered something called pink (which usually looks horrible on me), but it was more salmon colored which might work. I find that it is quite hard to find warmer colors! Let me know, suntiger, if there are any brands that you find tend to produce warmer clothing regularly.

dd212...just a note about Uniqlo...i recommend trying 2 sizes your 1st go round, as they tend to run slimmer than most American brands at that price point.

Fellow DA chiming in. I find greys tricky as its easy to default to cool colors or black with them then the whole outfit skews too cool toned. So, color wise id suggest trying reds, oranges and yellows.

I just wanted to let you know that I checked out Uniqlo. I did not know about this brand. Thanks! This was the kind of simple basics I wanted to find. I'll let you know how they fit.

Thanks so much for all these recommendations! I'm glad I checked in before buying Land's End, which I'll skip. And I'll look for the more interesting BR sweaters and try the duster idea.

Have you tried a linen knit sweater? Eileen Fisher usually has some good ones. You could do a sleeveless black or white shell with a long duster cardigan in linen. Halogen has some.

Banana Republic had short-sleeve wool sweaters, cut like a nice tee, this past season but they've almost sold out. I'm adding a Find for the v-neck in case more sizes / colors pop back into stock.

They also have this new version with an asymmetric hem, if you aren't limiting your search to things you can tuck in. The crew neck is relatively wide, though not a scoop neck.

(I'm annoyed I didn't see that new asymmetric version before deciding to keep & wear the plain version last week!)

Uniqlo also has new short-sleeve wool sweaters. They didn't fit me well (too tight in the arms - a common problem for me with Uniqlo) but they might work well on your frame.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was a bit bored by the colors online. But perhaps simple is best! What do you think of Land's ends dressier tees?

Hi, I just purchased a pair of black and white plaid theory cigarette pants. They have a subtle plaid pattern, so they look like a medium grey from a distance, have creases, and two simple slit pockets on the side. They are 90% wool, 9% nylon, and 1% elastane. I am petite, thin, and full-busted and am looking for a simple shirt or sweater to wear in late summer to work. I can't seem to find what I need. Anything reasonably priced is polyester, and many shirts seem to have pockets or frills. I prefer to dress minimally. I had thought I'd like just a wool short sleeve v-neck or scoop-neck sweater, or a three-quarter sleeve slim cotton button down. But I can't seem to find anything appropriate. A brooks brothers full-sleeve cotton down is a bit stiff on my curvier figure. Do you have any suggestions of appropriate materials or brands?
