I used to wear Urban Decay's foundation but even before the pandemic, I stopped using it because it was quite pricey. Now, I use Maybelline Dream BB Fresh Beauty Balm, which has SPF 30, is feather light, and evens out my skin tone without obliterating my freckles. I can't imagine wearing foundation at any price point ever again.

Another vote for Boots #7 tinted moisturiser. Back when I used to wear one, #7 was my go to. Very light formula and easy on the purse. The line didn’t have a tinted moisturiser with sunscreen back then, but that’s a great addition.

@Helena: I am a huge fan of L’Oreal True Match. I don’t wear makeup unless I have somewhere to go that warrants it, though. My skin has gotten dry lately & powder foundation doesn’t work that well for me anymore, so I either skip foundation entirely or use L’Oreal Paris True Match Super Blendable Foundation. I mercifully need very little coverage. Before trying this one, I tried a couple of tinted moisturizers that were hard to apply & made my skin itch. Not fun!

I can vouch for No 7 tinted city moisturiser, has sunscreen in ,feels very comfortable and makes you feel like you ve made an effort but without the heavy coverage and l don’t find that it sits in lines like some moisturisers do.Not too pricey either.

Star, fwiw I've had great luck with Bourjous BB cream, and have just started using L'Oreal True Match in the pump bottle, which seems to be a much more sheer formulation ... it tamps down some of my redness but you can still see my freckles through it, for reference ... just evens things out a little I have sensitive skin but no problems with these ... IF you decide you'd like to try they are inexpensive ones to experiment with

YES! You are remembering correctly, Star.

I used to use Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer, and sometimes Shisheido or Bobbi Brown. It depended on who had stock.

I have never used foundation. All my life I've either gone without any coverage, or used tinted moisturizer. Personally, I preferred tinted moisturizer because the coverage is more subtle. It evens the skin tone, but not completely like foundation does. It's quite sheer.

I stopped completely 18 months ago because my skin was VERY irritated by a cortisone cream. And it took THAT to make me realize that I prefer the look of my skin without extra coverage! And so does hubs Greg. HAH! I've come full circle :)

I moisturize, hydrate, and use sunscreen religiously. I take very good care of skin. You can absolutely see "the imperfections" on my naked skin. I look in the mirror and see what 51 years looks like. It's who I am at my age. Wrinkles, dark spots, moles, and a few freckles. I embrace it!

I absolutely feel polished with well cared for skin, eye make-up, tinted lip balm, healthy teeth, moisturized hands, styled hair, and a fab-for-me outfit.

FWIW, this is my opinion about my beauty routine. It differs greatly between people and is a very personal thing. You have to go with what works well for you!

Hi Angie

I recall reading that you were previously using a tinted moisturizer but stopped. Am I remembering correctly? If so I am curious why, as I have never worn a foundation regularly and am thinking that a tinted moisturizer may be helpful. My skin is okay but a couple of brown age spots showing up, along with typical wrinkles at my age, particularly around the lips. Just wondering if it really will give me a more polished look or am I just going to stress my skin. I realize it is not for minimizing wrinkles
