Congratulations on your win! I live in uberhumid South Jersey. Like trying to breathe underwater. I go for a permanent press looking item/outfit. In the worst humidity, I only wear wovens. I almost never wear anything 100% cotton knit. It's wet, saggy, clammy, clingy.
I look for the seemingly rare blend of cotton and poly knit. (everyone touts the cotton, can't even find a cheap tee shirt in a blend in a boys' size) In the worst humidity if I want to look unbeaten by the heat, I have a thick woven cotton dress I bought a size larger. Can be worn without a belt. Vivid brown and off white print. Everybody loves it. Realize it wouldn't do for a dog show but the main idea is to keep things from clinging to your body and having them *look* cool, even when you're not any cooler than anyone else.

Thank you for all the suggestions, gals!

I picked up some blotting papers, tinted moisturizer and Certain Dri last night. I was already 'aglow' after taking Regan on a short walk around the show-sight. Wore a pencil skirt and my stripey little jacket that's gotten good reviews here before.

I did my best to "cement" my hair in place this morning and kept the makeup light. Stayed in the shade as much as possible.

Only our (win - YAY!) photos will tell if I appeared fresh and put-together cos I'll tells ya, I felt positively flopped!

Angie's advice is great (surprise! ). I was going to say natural fibers with minimal makeup/moisturizer. Certain Dri is awesome, I wholeheartedly back that suggestion up too. Having at least one item with structure (blazer, slacks, etc.) can really help you feel like things are staying "put together".

What I wore today if it helps: cotton sleeveless striped dress, black pumps, black blazer, mascara, tinted lip balm, earrings/necklace/watch. I can take off the jacket if it's hot, cotton dress is nice and breathable, bare legs keeps me cool. Jacket structure is awesome against the jersey, jewelry helps me feel nicely accessorized and complete.

Yes! It feels like NYC here today - so unlike Seattle to be humid and sunny.

Here is how I did really well in NYC a few weeks ago when it was hotter and more humid than now. Plus I walked 40 to 90 blocks a day and was quite comfortable if my feet were happy. I wore closed shoes every day and felt great.

Leave off the moisturizer. Wear tinted moisturizer. Apply Certain Dri. Apply facial powder a few times a day. Wear natural fibres as far as possible. Stick to lip balm. Keep things tailored with a lightweight blazer or crisp top. Keep washing your hands. Wear patterns to hide perspiration stains. Cool off in a/c now and then.

I don't have much hair so it does not fly away. I style it in the morning and that's it for the day. I do spray up the front so that it stays off my face. I'm afraid I can't offer hair suggestions, but perhaps others can.

Hope that helps.

Mineral powder makeup instead of liquid foundation! I'm forever 'glowing' here in FL and I would just die with face makeup oozing down my face. Some tinted moisturizer followed by a dusting of mineral makeup and I'm good to go! (yesterday we were at 93 with like 80% - it was just awful. Heat index of 110 or something)

Well, it's relative I suppose. Compared to the summers where I grew up it's not so bad (NJ/ NY) but relative to normal, it's awful today.

ETA : actually, the weather NOW is not bad/pretty nice (79degrees/59%humidity). This morning... ick.

I'm directing this toward Angie given that she's A) obviously super stylish and always looks fresh and B) local so knows exactly the weather I'm talking about. However anyone that has suggestions I am ALL EARS!

So I've mentioned before that I feel I am always a little RATE because my hair never seems to stay in place and I tend to "glow", shall we say, so it's tough to keep my face looking fresh. This hot, overcast, muggy with a tinge of chill due to the dampness weather we are having right now in Seattle absolutely kills me. Dress too lightly? I'm cold. But I also tend to perspire in this weird sort of middle ground weather. A bit warmer and drier and I don't! It's like my metabolism doesn't know what to do.

I have another dog show tomorrow which means full makeup, hair done and if it's not too hot, probably a cropped blazer. I will be showering, driving 2+ hours to Shelton, WA from Everett and then getting dressed down there and probably applying my makeup then. It's supposed to be overcast, chance of rain and around 80.

Does anyone have any good tips for staying fresh and put together looking? Hair or face products?

My main problems:

straight, limp, flyaway hair
I perspire so tend to be shiny
General rumpledness due to humidity
