Thanks Mo - that's exactly what I need to look for, an A-line trench! I should have mentioned that I am 5'10" and wear a size 16/18 so none of these options would fit me, but thanks for the suggestions. It gives me a better idea of what style to look for! If anyone one else has ideas for a trench/spring coat that would work for a size 16/18 with narrow shoulders/chest and broader waist/hips I'm all ears! Thanks again!

Not Angie, obviously, but how about an A line trench? I checked over at Polyvore and found http://www.urbanoutfitters.com.....-_-Primary

and this one http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Navig...../38342.jsp

Thanks for your reply, Angie. My concern is that with trenches with a defined/belted waist, I often feel like they make my waist look as wide as my narrow shoulders. But great idea on looking for something a bit shorter - will do that! And yes - the problem is finding something that is defined on my shoulders but still fits my waist/hips.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Have you tried adjusting the buttons of trench coats? You can also leave a few of the buttons at the bottom un-done. Plus you could opt for something a little shorter so that you don't have full coverage of the thigh area.

You must keep the trench coat defined on top though.

Hi! I'm new here, but have been reading Angie's blog for some time (loved the post on travel clothes today).

I'm looking for midweight spring outerwear. Problem is that every belted trench that I've ever tried looks awful on me, as I have narrow shoulders/chest combined with a larger lower body (and a bit of a muffin top tummy). Angie, would you have any ideas? I guess I should be looking for something in more of a "swing" style, but all the stores seem to carry right now are trenches... Greatly appreciate any advice, from anyone! Thanks in advance!
