I'm thinking of the blouse Angie wore to the Chicago wedding (featured in today's post). It is structured (tailored) but the fabric is soft and drape-y.

What is funny is that my 8 year old son has alway used those terms to distinguish between his "soft" (fleece or sweatpants) and his "hard" (twill, denim, corduroy) pants!

Sure!

Soft means SOFT FABRIC (floppy and drapey). Something can be soft *and* structured if it's tailored in the right places. Silks, floppy polyesters, rayons, and knits are soft. Denim, woven wool blends, tweeds, linens and cotton twills and the like are HARD FABRICS. They don't *flop*. Does that make sense?

Hi Angie,
You may have explained this before, but can you clarify for me what you mean by this? I love structured clothes and in my head soft and structured are opposites. I've obviously got the definitions confused and was hoping you could give me an idea what you are thinking of when those terms are used.
Thanks.
