You need to have the waistband altered to fit, which is usually a straight forward alteration.

Happens to me too. My conclusion is that the skirt is too small for my widest part of my hip. So the "rise" of the skirt is not correct. It "fits" when standing because it will stay out when you pull, but if there is any tension in that area, any movement would loosen up and thus ride up. A bigger size with smaller waist would work.

I've definitely dealt with this, too, similarly to Janet. My waist and underbust are almost the same resting measurement. I also have very full hips and thighs. If a skirt fits snugly on my hips when standing, it's very likely to shift upward when moving or sitting; both of those actions increase the hip measurement and the skirt will be shoved upward. It's most likely on skirts without defined waists, and in stiffer fabric. I've never had it happen on skirts with waists that fit me snugly; my waist is slightly squishy and my ribs are not, so things stay down.

That's a super cute skirt! It looks very versatile; I would call it a good purchase. I would be inclined to have the waist tailored in to fit you. It's a straightforward alteration.

Not Angie, but I've had that very same problem with skirts. I always chalked it up to the fact that my waist is smallest right under the bustline, so waistbands in skirts -- especially ones that are not snug -- want to migrate up my body to that narrowest point whenever I sit or stand or even walk. I think my wider hips play a role in this too -- I'm widest at the upper thigh (saddlebags) and I have a long stride, so when I walk, I'm probably really displacing the fabric in a way that makes the skirt ride up.

I bought this skirt: http://www.dressbarn.com/detai.....2612300/01 They didn't have an 8, and while I could zip a 6, I bought a 10 to get the extra length. Looked great in the store, but not so great when I wore it out. Without a belt, it moved up until the waistband was sitting close to my bra band. With a belt, it bunched up between my waist and my hips. Is there a trick to keeping a skirt like this in place, or have I just made another bad purchase?
