As a curvy girl myself, I've found that a pair of straight leg jeans gives me a similar effect without making me look like I'll topple over. The levi's perfect waist jeans that I have are somewhere between a skinny and a straight. I think they are perfect for someone, like myself, who may be a little unsure of skinnies or wants to ease into them. But I agree with others who said it's all about the top you pair with it.

By ALL means try straight leg jeans, hedgie! I think you'll feel svelte in them, especially when styled with a great top and footwear that grounds the outfit.

I also find that wearing a tall or midcalf boot with skinny/straight jeans helps balance out my proportions. You can try this trick, too.

Yes, you can wear them. You just need volume on top to balance you out. I'm a pear too!

As a fellow curvy gal (pretty pear) I also thought I couldn't wear skinnies. Thanks to Angie I've discovered I can wear them I just need to give the top some thought. Short fitted tops are a big no no. Longer length tops and tunics are perfect as are boxy or voluminous tops. I now rarely wear any other jeans than skinnies or straight legs. Definitely give it a go x

I don't think it's foolish either -- I'd probably go for straight legs instead of "skinny" but that's a personal preference. There are so many options in jeans right now - I'm currently loving pretty faded light blues as I wore dark wash for so long and got tired of the whole dye transfer thing -- though I still love some of my dark wash and won't give them up entirely, I reserve them a bit more for casual going out instead of daily wear.

That said, I'm sure she'd recommend them to you pending on the proportion of the top you use.

I don't believe it's foolish at all to consider it.

Hi Angie,

I am considering incorporating a new pair of jeans into my wardrobe. Currently, I only wear bootcut, dark wash jeans because I've heard repeatedly that curvy girls should always stick to wider bottoms to balance out proportions.
So, with that said, I'm wondering if it's foolish of me to even consider a pair of tapered leg jeans....maybe not entirely skinny, maybe more straight legged....but something other than bootcut!

Advice and counselling throughly appreciated. :)

Thanks,

Mary
