Sylvie, as someone who has similar fit issues, I understand. My tailor will only take so much off a waist, so as to avoid ruining the cut of a garment. She's pretty honest when it comes to letting me know whether something can be sufficiently altered or I just need to let it go.

I've had great success lately with Paige for skinnies. Yes, they do fit my thighs snugly, but not in a way that creates that dreaded pull across the hip/thigh/crotch area. I also have a pair of Hudsons that fit well, and a JBrand too but that needs a waist alteration. Kuts do run big in the waist. I had luck in the past with David Kahn too.

Good luck! Once you find the perfect pair, buy two or more! I hate when a favorite gets discontinued!

Thank you so much to all!

@Amy: I'm a little wary of alterations because a poor tailor can ruin the garment. I'm concerned that if they're taking 3 inches off the waist, they wouldn't cut and seam the fabric back up correctly.

@alicat, Angie and bj1111: I will try the brands you recommended. Thank you for giving me a place to start as I really didn't want to have to try on every pair of jeans in the store.

I should note that the reference to being oddly shaped was tongue in cheek. I think my shape is perfectly reasonable but I'm frustrated that clothing manufacturers don't seem to agree.

Hopefully my next post will be to show off a perfectly fitting pair of skinny jeans.

There is nothing odd about your body!

Try Joes, Hudson and AG's. A waist adjustment is an easy alteration.

Well, you don't look the least bit oddly shaped to me!

Have you tried on Joe's or AG jeans? They might work for you. Calvin Klein skinnies would be another good option.

Good luck with your jeans shopping!

I can't recommend a particular brand, but what about finding jeans that fit nicely over the hips/thighs and then have them taken in at the waist and the legs? That's a fairly easy tailoring project :)

FWIW, I can't find pants that fit me exactly right either and always resort to alterations.

I have a normal waist, standard woman-size hips, a reasonably shaped butt, wide thighs and narrow calves. Therefore any time I try on skinny jeans, if it fits in the hips, it's almost bursting around the thighs, baggy at the waist, and baggy in the calves.

Are there any brands you can recommend that cater to someone with my figure?

For reference, here's my first body type post. Waist is a bit smaller due to weight loss but all the rest is the same.

Brands I've tried:

Any junior brand: Cut too narrow in the thighs
NYDJ/Kut by the Kloth: Too much waist space and too high waisted

My current goto brand is the Gap. L&L and perfect boot jeans are only slightly big in the waist so I can get away with the belt. My sole pair of skinny jeans is the Real Skinny, which is no longer offered and doesn't fit perfectly. These are still a little baggy everywhere *except* the thighs.

Would love input from anyone with a similar body type? Surely it can't just be me...

Thanks!
