I never know whether to get a 7 or 7.5. With the Pettys, I went for a 7, and they work well. I do not think I could get a thick sock in there at all, though. I suggest that you order the 6.5s, especially since it seems you can send it back without undue much trouble.</p> <p>My hair is darker than yours, and I feel that the python Pettys work with almost any outfit I can put together. There is a surprising amount of "dark" in there! I was worried that they wouldn't work but they stretched enough on the first wearing to be perfect.</p> <p>The Petty's were comfortable right out of the box even though they are the same size as the Lisle's. They were slightly wider and slightly longer. When you are wearing in truly cold weather your toes need to move. They would probably fit okay with a thick sock, but that's not how I wear them -- so effectively, they are too big.
