Thanks for your reply, Angie. I love stores like Loft, Banana Republic, Gap etc but the fabrics (thin silks) and crazy colors they're featuring these days just put me off. The selection at Macy's almost gave me a headache and I was simply lost at Nordstrom. My style is simple, classic and structured, more like Sofia Coppola, Jennifer Aniston, etc. I'm 5'2 and carry a bit of extra weight in my midsection (which I'm trying lose!) that I'm always trying to disguise. Spending a day with you is something I'm definitely going to consider! I enjoy your blog very much. You're providing a wonderful service to those of us who are fashion challenged.

Hard luck, Heidi. I wish I could tell you why it was hard, but I just don't have enough details. I don't know your style, body type or your style preferences. If I did, I'd be able to make things easier for you.

Don't despair though! Shopping can be overwhelming, which is why I have a job :). Some shopping trips are better than others. Also, you have to be discerning when you shop, and it sounds like you were, so that's a good thing!

Some of my Vancouver friends will drive down to Seattle to shop I had good luck at Northgate myself, but I guess it depends what you like!

Hi Angie. I live in Vancouver BC and spent yesterday at Bellevue Square, Northgate and the Seattle Premium Outlet. I have a small notebook of pictures I've cut out from magazines that I took with me for inspiration. I spent 14 hours shopping and came home with two tops, a sweater and a pair of flip flops. Needless to say I was very disappointed. I have a very classic sense of style with a bit of a rock n roll twist. I think my style is very simple seems very hard to find. I can't even find a decent pair of khakis. Why is shopping so hard?
