Yes, I have read the articles in the archives on glasses. Although I will do the check-up and get the prescription shortly, I will try to exercise patience in my search for the perfect pair.

I would like to do like Angie, and if I can find one or two awesome frames, I will just get the lenses replaced in later years when the prescription changes. That way, I may develop a small collection of fab specs!

I love Angie's suggestion of softer tortoise shells, I think that would look awesome with your coloring. Good luck and don't give up until you find the perfect pair! I also went specs shopping with the help of YLF.

Specs shopping! How fun!

Have you read my posts on how to choose eyewear? You might find those helpful.

Try a high contrast, but not black. Softer tortoise shells will work, as will deep shades of red and blue.

I am so not the person to give advice on glasses, but I do know it is such a personal thing and trying them on with someone to give a second opinion has always helped me. I don't think the ones you currently have are too dark as that is a trend now. Wishing you luck with this!

Eye/vision check up pending and I'm eligible for new glasses on the insurance plan. I've read the article on glasses, and avidly followed some fabber's quests for their perfect frames.

The take aways are: eyes centred in the lens, top of frame follows brow line, outside bottom 'lifts' up. Also, frames shouldn't touch face/cheeks, or be too narrow or too wide.

I prefer plastic vs metal, and require bi-focals.

Any advice regarding colour? Should I be going high or low contrast? (I think my current specs are too dark, but I got them when I was colouring my hair and it was darker.) I'm about 1/3 white, but it is mixed with the red. My eyes are greenish-gold (hazel). My skin often has a reddish flush due to rosecea.

I'm open to all suggestions and anticipate posting some specs pictures in the future for opinions.

#1 pretending I have 20/20 vision
