Thanks, Kiki. They look okay, and might look better irl. They have the potential to look frumpy though, so I would be careful. Anyway we can see them on?

Grrr on my link issues! Please let this cut and paste work, this time! This is an accurate representation of the color/wash and top detail. My pockets are plain. The legs are a bit wider at the bottom, and they fit me more closely than they fit the model.

No links yet. . .

But I just wanted to add that I had a pair of Bandolino skinny jeans about 3-4 years ago and they stretched out horribly every wear It didn't happen at first (like if you sit and watch TV for an evening to check out a possible pair), but within a few wears and definitely after they were washed, the (lovely feeling denim) always bagged out right away. They were a very dark denim wash and I can't remember the fabric content, but pretty sure it was almost all cotton with a dash of spandex.

Just to let you know that, in case you want to check them out repeatedly before commiting. . .

I don't think black jeans are all "mom" jeans. I have a pair! Actually though, mine are kind of mom-ish...mainly because they are semi high-waisted and also give me a muffin top. They work with baggier, un-tucked shirts though.

I think at the waist is okay, unless you're going to wear them with a too-short sweatshirt (which I know you won't!). I suffer from muffin top also and I prefer higher waists to hold me in. Since I rarely tuck into jeans, I don't let it bother me.

Not an exact link, no, I can't find one. But this is pretty darn close as to brand, style, leg width and wash, except for the pocket detail on the back.

Mine fit me rather tighter than the ones on the model, but not too tight.

I think the definition does include them being "at-the-waist" style, but also stone-washed and tapered. So you're only one out of three on the Mom Jean scale. Personally, I prefer my jeans at the waist, too. Mid-rise is so uncomfortable! I think it doesn't matter since I never tuck, so no one can see where my jeans hit anyway. The fact that they're dark wash and straight is most important.

I have found some straight leg jeans that I think are pretty flattering, and I need to replace last year's rather tired "good" jeans. As an added bonus, they are very, very inexpensive, and if they work, I can get two, and hem for both flats and heels. (Sam's Club, $17, Bandalino Samatha Straight leg--following your rule of "shop everywhere.) However, my goal is to avoid Mom Jeans. They pass the "avoid long butt" test as to rear pocket placement. It is nice that they are really cheap, but that isn't the point. If they are really good, I **almost** don't care what I pay for jeans

a. It is ok that they are just plain, dark jeans? No whiskering, nothing, no pocket detail?

b. I'm short, and these come up pretty high. I actually really like that about them, because it nicely takes care of muffin top. Is this a fatal flaw?

c. They also come in plain, solid black. I have had black jeans in the past (and found them most useful indeed) but in hindsight, I suspect they may have been Mom Jeans. Are all black jeans Mom Jeans, or is that primarily a function of fit and shape, not wash?
