I think a light dress in a short length + jeans + longerish cardigan + heels might be a solution to the proportion dilemma. I like a shorter skirt with longer pants, and capris for longer skirts. I consider fabric weight too. I like the lighter weight skirts like you show. When done well, I love this look. It takes me back to the early 2000s. I was living in Europe at the time, and the apron look was all the rage. Those girls knew how to layer skirts and dresses over pants, which at the time were mostly bootcuts. I never mastered the look then--you have to get the proportions right in relation to the clothes and to your body, and I never found the right items. If the look is coming back I'd love to give it a go.
