Angie..you were right, I confused you with a post from Boof - http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....at-to-pack where she was asking about packing for a trip.

The link to the Nortstrom jacket shows a jacket just like the one that is now out of commission for me. More stylish than Lands End. I think I will skip trying to replace it and wear what others have suggested like leather which I already own. I have a 3/4 length red leather that is super smart on me and fits really well. If I remove the liner it is not too heavy for walking the stores.

Thanks for the input!
Lynn

I admit to having a Ralph Lauren one as well as similarly shaped, very dowdy looking Barbour jacket which I chose over an identical boxy Burberry. Actually, I consider it quite preppy but I feel very old lady in it! If I had to do it all over again, I would have chosen something a little more fitted and fashionable. It's hard finding a jacket for that in between weather before true winter hits. I can't seem to find one that works but have you considered a trench coat? How about a leather jacket? I think those two would be more fashion-forward choices.

Hi and welcome to the forum! I don't have a brown quilted jacket. Perhaps you've confused me with someone else? :0)

The quilted jacket would not be my choice for a lass who is fun and preppy. What else do you like?

Lands End is great if you need something warm and durable, but fashion forward they are not. I've tried on that very Lands' End jacket and they are cheating in the photo--they've pulled it back to give it an hourglass shape. It is much boxier on.

Do you need a down filler for warmth, or can you get by with the quilted "look"? I found this Michael Kors jacket on the Nordstroms site, which has fun detailing and looks like it fits closer (everyone, correct me if I'm wrong):
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....5&P=1

Nordstroms has a whole section on quilted jackets under their coat menu, from the astronomically expensive (wow, some of those are nice) to the affordable.

I don't like much.. it is a bit dated and it adds too much volume to the body.

or is this a more updated jacket style?

I had a thin quilted jacket that had neat buckles which unfortnately have broken and cannot be replaced. I was looking at this Lands End jacket but can't decide if it is "cool" enough as far as style goes to be truly wearable. http://www.landsend.com/pp/Dor.....36_48.html

Is this too traditional and old ladyish for today? My style is preppy with a bit of fun thrown in with scarves. I am a big fan of a jean jacket with a down vest but that seems too casual and bulky sometimes. I was hoping this was a nicer option. Your thoughts? I also like a pea coat but find them too heavy to wear often.

? - Did you bring your brown quilted jacket with you to France last year and if so, did you wear it?
