Oh Inge, yes please tell me if you spot something. You are such a dear. Charcoal would be so much better with these than black to go dark, I think.

Suz, yes, I was thinking they would look fun with my distressed denim because they would pick up on the white of the threads. I bought them while on the road and haven't been able to test out all the possibilities in real life.

Ooh! I'm so glad you are keeping both, Scarlett. I think you'll be happy. I wear my python booties with stripes ALL the time. I also love them with taupe (and as Inge says, olive would also work). And I think they look especially fun with distressed denim. I find that if I have anything light on up top, they are a great complement to that. I know I am blonde, but not a true light blonde like Angie, so the effect is a bit different. I get compliments every time I wear mine, too. True, you have to be ready for that. But there are worse things, you know?

I can completely understand your decision, I too was reasoning in similar way at some point - the basic and the funky pair, that makes a lot of sense. Like I said in my thread, there is a reson those booties have such following, they are beautiful and comfortable. I'm sure you'll be very happy with your decision in the long run too.

And btw, of course pythons can be worn with the stripes. Or polkadots. Those are all virtual neutrals

I didn't have time to get back to this thread earlier, but I was actually going to suggestion the exact same thing, Scarlet, i.e. why not keep both pairs if the budget allows it. SO glad that's exactly what you decided to do: you do wear booties and ankle boots almost year round, so both pairs are going to be super versatile!

Do let us know how you like wearing the python print, I'm very curious.

*Chuckling* about the charcoal trousers. Would you like me to give you a shout when I see a nice pair?-)

So I thought about this a lot and came up with the quintessentially Scarlet solution--I am keeping both. I realized that the suede ones I already have are such great outfit completers, but don't make the cut when I know I am going to be on my feet tons, so a better quality more comfortable version is smart. I also realized I primarily wear booties and ankle boots, so there is nothing wrong with having the basic and the funky version. I know I will wear both a lot as long as they work out to be as comfortable as others have found. I see the python will be easy to incorporate into outfits and even if I was afraid that they are loud, the truth is they make me smile. Thanks so much to everyone for sharing your experience.

The only remaining problem is the python booties make me wish I had charcoal trousers like Angie and Inge's...

Scarlet, don't stress--you're in the newborn haze. It lasts for as long as a year (or more). The indecisiveness, confusion, and, I think, the desire to stay within your comfort zone is part and parcel of being a new mom. I'm not sure WHY it's the case (sleep deprivation? using your brain in a totally different way for most of your waking hours?) but I definitely experienced it with both of my babies. Hang in there!

Scarlet, I am wearing my python booties with stripes and polka dots and love the effect. The python pattern is pretty subtle because it is low contrast but still striking: I get compliments on these booties every time I wear them.
I also have taupe colored ones but I reach for pythons so more often because they instantly bring the simplest outfit to the next level!
Actually I wore them with striped sweater yesterday <high five Inge!>
Oh, and I am another dark haired lass here!

Well darn, I thought I responded here but I guess I lost my post. Here goes again.

First of all thank you all for sharing your thoughts and experiences. I was nearly convinced to keep the Pythons, but a friend whose opinion I respect a lot was here today and advised me to keep the suede pair because it is so classic and elegant, whereas the python is funky and fun but not as timeless.

Another thing I was thinking is that the python is a great addition to basic pieces to spice things up, but most of my tops are patterned or have some kind of detail that might work better with simpler footwear. On the other hand, my current style direction feels like gravitating toward more classic pieces and less embellishment. I think with my changing body and changing lifestyle (due to my new baby), I am just not so on target and decisive like usual. I am a little unsure in which direction I am going. Confused.

Inge,
that was one of the questions in my mind is how well they would work with, e.g. a striped top. I am traveling and mostly don't have the right clothes to try them on with. I trust your judgement though, so it must work with stripes. I know a lot of people have posted outfits with these, but I am just not able to keep up with the forum like I used to at the moment.

I could really see the python (and the suede too) work for your style, Scarlet. As Angie mentioned: I have brown hair and am finding them very versatile (both with dark and light bottoms). E.g. yesterday I wore them with dark grey slim fitting trousers, a navy & white striped turtleneck with an ink blue & cream striped shirt underneath. Granted, the lighter colours in the tops helped to bookend the booties, but I've also worn them plenty of times with no lighter elements on top and it works just as well (if I say so myself;-)

Also: depending on the light, the python print has a bit of olive green in it, very unique and very beautiful. I think you will like them.

Keep us posted?

Had to chime in Scarlet and echo Angie's comments regarding loving these booties. I had serious doubts that the white would work for me, both because I'm a brunette and because I wasn't sure they'd work with my wardrobe. Well...they work WAAAAAAAY better than I had even imagined and are far more versatile than expected. Add in the comfort level and they are one of my better purchases.

That's a good way to put it, Angie, because of course they are mainly white, which is mostly why they feel so unusual to me. It reminds me though that it could be my way of participating in the white footwear trend.

These are a good choice for me, right? I ordered the python and the praline suede. The praline suede is a no-brainer for me, but I have similar booties that are not quite ready to retire yet, so I think I could hold off on those. The python are quite unique but also more expensive. I think the main thing is, it is a shoe people will comment on instead of blending into my style, and I don't know if I am fully comfortable with that. Also the python bookends blonde hair so beautifully, but I am not blonde. Can you hold my hand on this one?
