Thanks Inge!!

Wow... now I'm excited. I have been craving wider leg pants for about a year -- adds balance to my IT figure, gives me hips, illusion of a triangle rather than inverted triangle. I say -- BRING IT!

Honestly, I think we shorties can wear anything as long as the scale is just right.

Shannon, I've been looking at these trends apprehensively for the same reasons. I'm so thankful that Angie can guide us through the oversized, voluminous minefield and hope that the solution doesn't require high heeled footwear

Angie - you are a sweetie for chiming in when you're so busy :)

I will trust you and sit tight then. I will need to remember the SS - I think that was the issue I was having with my outfit today with the wide legged trousers. Not enough SS.

I am right with you on this one Shannon. I am a lover of voluminous looks and find it hard to do as a petite. I am wearing my version of it today, although I'm not sure it's working. I'll try to post a WIW when I get home. I'll be following this get Angie's take.

Not a petite, but I too loved your title, and I'm always wondering how to adopt trends like this in a flattering, not frumpy, way! Love Angie's positivity: "There are no problems. Only creative solutions. All you have to do is create sufficient structure (SS)." As always, such sage advice!

Hah. You sweet thing, Shannon.

(Chuckling @ Greyscale. Quite right. I've had the odd wide leg cropped pant apoplexy while watching the shows).

DON'T WORRY. And that's a YLF order. Denise is on the right track. We'll have all the shorties sorted, and that's a promise. There are no problems. Only creative solutions. All you have to do is create sufficient structure (SS) in the outfit. We'll be covering how as the new silhouettes hit stores.

I'm headed back to the shows. I'm back to being scarce today. Lots going on with shows, posts and clients this week. xo

I just had to open this thread because your headline made me laugh Shannon!

My viewpoint is that very few people copy runway looks from head to toe. If you find a jacket or skirt you like, you can create a look around that piece and tailor the rest to your likes and proportions.

Regular trouser pants always look "wide leg" on me. Maybe petites can just wear trouser pants? You get some volume but not as much as with an actual wide leg. Just a thought. I get my trouser pants slimmed by the tailor.

I just had a gander through your Fall 2014 Pinterest page Angie - there are so many beautiful looks with interesting color combinations, layers, textures, etc. I'm particularly loving the fluid trousers that are slimmer in the calf and ankle, giving fluidity and scrunch but not an excess of fabric.

BUT...

The trend to oversized and voluminous can be really tricky for those of us who are vertically challenged. From your perspective and with what you have seen so far, will there be options for petites to wear some of the trends but in a proportionately flattering way? When I look at many of these outfits, I cannot picture anyone under 5'10" at a size 2 pulling them off with panache.
