Hi, Dora and welcome to the forum. I think you’re after a higher rise in pants. What are the measurements of your pant rises at the moment?

LOL!!!

In the past, I have done way too much internet surfing trying to solve the dreaded CT problem. You can only imagine what kind of sites I ran into during that particular quest!!!

I did find a blog site with a knowledgeable woman in the field of clothing manufacturer, that insists the problem is related to mass manufacturing... it was quite an intriguing theory. I will not do it justice trying to explain it, but Nicole, your mom, as a seamstress, might relate completely.

Between this blogger's meticulous data about pattern making and sizing, and my own personal field testing, I do think it is all about having a waist/hip ratio greater than 0.8. I could be wrong but I think Dora meant "has to be wide enough to fit her waist" not hips. Because this is my experience - if it fits my hips I get CT, if it fits my waist i do not but then the pants are enormous all over, particularly in the hips. You think it is all about the rise - but it's not.

I don't have any direct advice, but I love the fact that we have a forum where we can use the term camel toe and get helpful responses in return.

Dora, I'm 5 inches shorter than you but my horizontal measurements are nearly the same and weight is 10 lbs lighter (so in the same general ballpark, considering you are 5 inches taller). So I'm trying to get a picture of you, based on our similiarties...

Can you answer for me what you consider your waist? Is it where you want the jeans waistband to hit, or is it the smallest part of your torso, or something else? (For example what I consider my waist - the smallest part of my torso - is way higher than both my belly button and where I like my waistband to hit).

Can you also tell us what brand jeans you have tried on that don't work? That would be helpful!

I have had camel toe issues quite a bit myself, with various brands. The issue, I've deduced, is not really the rise (although sometimes going up to a regular instead of a petite will solve this). More often, it's simply the difference between my waist and hips, which is 28-33, an apple ratio - at or more than 0.8. Most jeans (no matter what the rise) are designed for around 0.7 ratio.

My best luck with jeans is Citizens of Humanity. Try their Amber, Elson, and Hutton styles. Worth every penny.

You have a tall torso and short legs. My rise is 10 inches. My backwaist length is 15.5. I am 5"5" as well and I can wear petite pants but the leg length is too short. Just out of curosity have you ever tried on pants in the tall section. Maybe you will find a better fit in the rise and then just have the length shortened.

Welcome Dora! Posting a photo would help us give you better advice.

It is actually quite common for pants that fit at the hips to be too big everywhere else, although I'm surprised that would be the case with you based on your measurements. The only solution is to buy pants to fit your hips ( or whatever your biggest part is) and have them tailored everywhere else.

Angie is out of town now and won't be back till next week, so maybe you should bump up your thread then for her to see.

I have an incredibly annoying problem. I am short waisted, but long in the rise. the distance between my waist and my crotch is the same as the distance from my shoulders to my waist! Do you have any suggestions for work pant styles I can wear? I either get a camel toe or the pants have to be big enough to fit at the widest part of my hips, and then they are enormous everywhere else, and pretty much falling off. I'm 5'5 and 117 lbs, and my measurements are 33-28-34. i could really use some tips.
thanks!
