This is the right length to my eye. Remember that your shoes are visible as you stride. A pointy closed toe is a better style for this shape and length of hem because the points are more visible.

What Diana said. Also sometimes if the tailor narrows one side only it ruins the overall drape of the pants.

Not Angie but I think this is actually the right length. I also do not like the "pants ate my shoes" look but IMO the solution is to buy narrower pants, not to shorten wide leg ones. I tend to prefer things labeled as "straight leg" over "wide leg."

Eta: it's possible a tailor could narrow these but I think to maintain the drape they'd have to narrow all along the leg rather than just tapering the bottom.

So, in theory I *get* PPL. I just have such a hard time applying it to real life. I have been until this point doing ok with my pants and flats or kitten heels. However, when it comes to wearing my heels- and I DO want to wear them- I struggle to make them work with my pants.

I just bought these wide-leg navy linen trousers and the fit is good everywhere. Hopefully you can see in the photos that they do indeed skim the ground. And I do think they make me look taller. But, also make me look footless. Perhaps I have a sucky tailor (and limited choices) or perhaps I can't communicate effectively, but I am wary of hemming as they always come out too short. I would like to have these taken up, but I am afraid that even a smidge will cause them to flare on the frontal view.

Any advice on how to communicate what I want? Also, are tailors able to do a ...I don't know how to explain...shorter in front and longer in back hemline?
Oh, and heels would be 2.5-3" typically.

Disclaimer: I have had trouble loading YLF lately, so if I don't respond immediately it's bc I can't, not bc I don't appreciate the comments!
