regarding your notes above, I'm not a huge busted girl, about a C, so I wouldn't think I would bust out of things terribly? Please correct me if wrong!

Well ladies, the right halter neck should work. There are 2 types of styles – ones that are backless and ones that have a back. The ones with a back are best because you can wear your bra and wear a “bra strapper” to prevent the strap from showing. There is also ample coverage under the arm and in front. The backless kind are lovely, but you need to find a style that prevents “spillage” in front and on the sides. Remember Marilyn Monroe in her white halter neck dress? Perfect. I rest my case.

You are looking for fabric that is thick and drapey, like a very stable jersey knit or woven fabric with stretch. Plus size gals can wear this look, but with caution. They’ll need height. I’ve had a client with a 38 GG bust size look fab in a halter neck dress. She was about a size 12. Her bust was locked and loaded. Very sensual but with class.

I'm with Nicole. I'm afraid I'll pop out of a halter, especially since I can't wear a bra with it...

Angie...what's the secret to halter necks on busty women? I absolutely love halter necks, and have yet to find any that I can wear.

I’m afraid that I do not prefer that style of dress for your body type. It's long, there's too much exposed skin and the contrasting band is not a good idea as it cuts the long lean line you are trying to create. Halter necks can be flattering if you are busty but you don’t was to be too “va va voom” when you stand next to the bride.

Stick to an A-line knee length dress with a V or scooped neckline and an empire waist that is NOT gathered. This way the smallest part of your body will be accentuated and the fabric over your tummy area will not cling – it will merely float on top. Have a look at the links below.

probably like 12 or 14 on top (in between L and XL just depends on what the clothing is) smallest part is just under my rib cage, right above my belly

This is no problem at all! What clothing size do you currently wear and is the smallest part of you around your torso area (just under the bust).

Hello,
My best friend just told me that she is getting married in two months. I am her maid of honor and we are going to a bridal show on saturday to pick out her dresses that she wants to wear and all of us to wear. She wants to pick the color and we can pick the type. Thing is, I haven't worn a dress in years, and this is like 2 kids later and things aren't quite as nice as they used to be. I am not fat by any means but there is definetely baggage on my belly (my baby was born just 3 months ago). I am about 5'6" and pretty broad shoulders, and not much of a waist with long legs... what style of dress would you recommend so that I do not embarass my self infront of my whole community!!!
Thanks so Much!
