Loafers can look fabulous.

I think that this particular style of loafer looks more fashionable in white. I wore them a lot, but am passing them on because they're finished. See first two pics below of how I wore them.

I am also wearing my Paul Green white loafers - that I got last year - a LOT more because they are even more comfortable. See the rest of the pics on holiday in Europe wearing them in outfits.

Encore, have you tried these black loafers with dresses, black ankle pants and shorts? You need to show skin to make them look more fashionable.

Thanks all! Very interesting comments and I do feel that lighter colors could create a different vibe. I love the ease of loafer style (easy slip on/off especially for travel) so I'll take a cue from Rabbit and look for ones that have a more contemporary cut (and possibly a lower vamp). I am pretty sure, however, that the pair I have are headed for consignment bag. I purchased them on super duper sale so I am not so reluctant to send them on their way

I agree with the majority. I adore the comfort and the idea of loafers, but I can just never find the right pair that doesn't make me feel frumpy. I don't know if I actually look frumpy in them or if it is just how I see them, but unless they are a very bright colour or otherwise interesting, they are very hard for me to wear.

I've tried on loafers again and again, and even an optic white crocodile texture one with silver pointy studs on the toe made me feel old. I think if they are more of a contemporary rather than classic cut, or a oxford or mule hybrid it might be a little easier.

From the pictures I've seen recently where I like how they are styled, they are usually brightly colored or white, and worn with very slim or skinny cropped or rolled jeans or pants that expose a lot of ankle, and I think the top has had a lot of structure also, tucked with belt, rolled up bare forearms, etc.

yeah, I too am super baffled by the vogue for loafers. I find them very hard to do right -- I'm 30 and they make me feel old.

Here are the ones I have, Encore (first two pairs in Finds). Not the most fashion forward looks, but I do wear them a lot and feel good in them. (I feel the Paul Greens are more stylish than the Naots, but both have their place for me.) Naots and Paul Greens are both super comfortable brands for me; Naot's medium last (like these oxfords) fit me really well, and I have several pairs of Paul Green shoes that feel like they were made for me. The Naots come in different colors, too; the burgundy combo is gorgeous, and they look very cool on forum member Jenava.

If you are a Munro fan (I like them quite a bit, too), I thought the ones below (last two Finds) were cute in person; I haven't tried them on, so I don't know how they run, size-wise.

I agree word for word with Firecracker . I love the idea of loafers but unless they are really unique and more fashiony looking , I feel too old looking . I have both loafers and oxfords and oxfords win hands down for feeling more modern .

Maybe try them with black ankle pants so a bit of skin is showing? That's how I like to wear my black patent loafers.

Do you have recommendation on stylish oxfords?

Thanks!

For what it's worth, I have these loafers and find them difficult to wear, too. That is, super comfortable, but difficult for me to wear in a stylish way. But I have this problem with loafers repeatedly, for some reason. I feel a lot more stylish in oxfords than in loafers, on the whole.

Angie - I believe you have a pair of the Kimi in White? Wondering about the best pant length for this shoe and how they look on you.

I have a pair but in black and have to admit, I do not feel fab but rather frumpy when I wear this shoe. Here are two pant lengths that I wear them with - #1 feels too short and #2 feels too long. I am thinking about replacing them with another more trendy pair of black but not sure which. Your advise please - keep or replace. Thanks!

P.S. I have another pair but in tan and wear those with lighter wash jeans and like that combo much better.
