I want you to follow your passions Dave. This is always a good thing! I don’t quite know how to advise you. I have been in the international fashion game for 16 years, and predominantly as a fashion buyer. This experience, a lot of passion and flair for the business have given me a hardcore fashion and style background.

My suggestion is that you select a niche. Dressing men perhaps? Women generally choose female stylists, but not all the time. What was your thinking?

Hi Angie,

My name is Dave and I desperately want to a career in wardrobe/personal styling. I currently work in law enforcement but my life's passion is and always will be everything fashion. Over the years I have developed a keen eye for fashion and I keep abreast of the latest trends in women's and men's fashion. I have always helped my family and friends with their fashion dilemmas. It is not unusual for strangers to approach me and ask style questions or compliment me on my own personal style.

After many years of personal debate I have finally decided to pursue my passion full bore as a career choice. The problem is I am getting a relatively late start. I know in order to be taken seriously and to have ultimately a successful career as a stylist, I need to gain practical experience for my resume relatively quickly. What would you suggest as my best means of obtaining this goal?

By the way my wife is a fellow Kaaskop from Zeist in the Nederlands...

Dank Je Wel......Dave
