Thanks Cheryle. We don't have Old Navy stores here....but can often find the brand at export surplus markets (all the clothing from Old Navy, BR, Gap etc is made in India). I'll Goto that market and try out some jeans....

I'm going to Singapore next month. Hopefully I may find something there, if not here.

I went to Toronto last fall and must have tried on almost every jean in three shopping areas. I ended up buying Old navy sweetheart skinny because they fit me better than any others. The waist wasn't too big, the thighs weren't too small and they didn't flatten out my already flat bum. In spring I ordered the same jean in white in two sizes. I planned to send a pair back but ended up keeping both.

It sounds like we have very similar builds so they may work for you too.

Thanks Angie, Suz, abc and Melinda

I have tried sizing up, Suz. The crotch gets an ugly fold from the excess fabric I guess i will just have to keep on trying! Levi's are an option....so I'll check their jeans out.

Angie, I can buy most European brands here. Zara, Mango, S.Oliver, and all jeans brands like Wrangler, Pepe Jeans, Lee, Levi's etc.

Another trick that helps some people is to size up in white jeans. I don't do this myself every time (depends on the particular pair) but it can help with the whiskering effect. It's just more glaring (so to speak!) in white!

One brand that might be available to you and that I know has worked for a few of our curvy members is Levis. Ingunn and I believe Beth Ann both had Levis jeans and I know Ingunn's were white and worked really well for her and looked great. Worth a look, anyway.

Mannera, it can be ALL of the above - fabric, cut and rise. Stay away from jeans with too much stretch. Don't ever put them in the dryer. As for cut and fit - that's harder unless you can buy from brands I know. Is Amazon an option?

Hmm.....I don't have those brands available here. I'm wondering if the problem is style, fabric or rise?

I think it is the stretch element in the jeans adding to the problem, Manny. At least re thinner fabric and the ability to slide them off and on without unbuttoning.

I don't know if you have Kut from the Kloth available, but I do have several pairs of their jeans that seem to have a higher cotton content that don't lend themselves to the sliding off and on issue (and they seem thicker, too).

Good luck, curious to hear what Angie says. xoxo

I have had fantastic luck with NYDJ. the stretch helps so much! both my pairs of white jeans are NYDJ.

I'm having a really really hard time replacing my white jeans. I can't seem to find ANY jeans without whiskering.

I wear a UK size 12 in jeans. I prefer mid-rise jeans. Low rise can dip too low and look obscene on me. Part of the problem may be that I have wide hips to balance my shoulders, but I have a rather flat bum. While some jeans can fit on the waist and thighs, they almost feel a bit 'empty' in the hip area.

I can't seem to find the right fitting white jeans. Everything whiskers in the front and this seems to be more exaggerated with whites. My waist measurement is 32" and hips are 41".

I have added 4 new jeans to my wardrobe this year, and I've seen that denim fabric has gotten thinner. These days, I can pull down my jeans without having to undo the button or fly after 3-4 hours of wear! My older jeans (I've got 5 year old jeans too) are thicker in fabric and don't cause whiskering.

Could it be the fabric? Do I need to buy thicker jeans? Or am I buying the wrong style? I really need some help
