i absolutely give each and everyone a 'badge' once I have decided whether it should be boost, therapy, comedy etc that I click on. I also thank people with a written response in batches. every so often on my threads.

I give a boost to every comment giver, absolutely! (Sometimes I might miss someone in error, but I always intend to give that boost.) It's just one of the features that makes the forum easy to use and pleasant for us all.

Briljant Inge, I found the mail and responded.

As for the comments... I always read every single one. I like to give a sign to everyone, but that is probably a bit too much? Or can I give a boost to any kind comment-giver?

Hi Greetje, just wanted to add that if you only deleted the email from the first person who said Hello, you should still be able to see the PM message on your profile page. (Click on "Messages" in the upper right corner of each page, where your picture is when you are logged in. You then get a page with all your messages, sent and received).

I'm with Ornella -- this is a GREAT feature of the forum. Sometimes I have to think for a sec to decide what button to click, but it allows me to quickly acknowledge each response, even if I don't have time to write separate comments for everybody.

Polite and I would also add - convenient. It's actually one of my favourite features of the forum. It takes no time at all to just click once while you're reading anyway. It is a clear sign to the people who responded to your thread that you have actually read their contribution, because nobody expects that the thread author will always have time to address everyone individually. But it is nice to know that the author has seen the response. For me, it's like eye-contact, smile or a nod in non-verbal communication.

Much more than striving for any awards for yourself Greetje, the awards system allows you to appreciate those who commented on your own thread. It's a polite way to say thank you

Greetje: It took me awhile to get the hang of it as first, too. I don't think forum members are too concerned about their badges, mostly it's just a way of seeing how other forum members are responding to your posts. Feel free to participate in the way that works for you. The most important tenet of YLF is to have fun with fashion!

Loved to see you post!

Well, well, well... thank you both for your reply. I learned a lot.

I am not going to strive for any points, levels or roles as this gives me a chore and takes the fun out of it.
If I earn anything it is because I enjoy doing it. And I am.
But I can understand the appreciation system of actively involved members. Reward loyalty. As I am in advertising I understand this very well. LOL
Greetje

Hi Greetje, and welcome! Love having you and your KILLER style on the YLF forum :)

This should clear up the questions about roles and awards:

http://youlookfab.com/backstag.....ber-roles/

You will receive them when other people award them to you, and after a certain number of awards, you receive a badge. You will loose your badge when the minimum number of awards is no longer met.

YOU can award comments when YOU start a thread. You cannot award comments on a thread that you did not start.

I think someone tried to PM you (private message). Don't worry. You will soon get the hang of it. All PM's are private. I'll send you one :)

I have no idea how some things on the forum work. Like... I get awarded Boost or Wisdom on comments I made. What do they mean? Why do I get them? Can I dish them out as well? What do they stand for?
And when I was a real newbie with my first post (about the kimono), I got an email with "Hello". Had no clue what it was and deleted it. When I received a second one I investigated it more thoroughly and found out how it worked / what it was. Now I feel bad about the first one, because I never answered. I suppose you cannot find the person who sent me the email? Or can you? I cannot find it in my deleted items.
Much obliged.
Greetje
