I have that issue, which is why higher waisted pants feel so much better. I don't tuck, but I think a semi tuck would work if you want to try it. I don't because I also have to deal with a post-pregnancy body. I'd rather belt over a top than tuck. Belting works for me if I also wear a vest or jacket so the belt is on the inside. Experiment to see what works best for you.

I agree with Angie: semi-tucking in a loose blouse/shirt and large flower pattern/ print can make your upper half look larger. Light or bright colour for the top and dark colour for the jeans will give your body a balance illusion.

Shoulder pads might help. Don't laugh. You can sneak them underneath blouses and shirts.

You could also make sure the high rise skinnies are dark wash without much detail. Then wear a top with a lot of detail like chest pockets and collar detail. A statement necklace might also balance things out.

A full or semi-tuck with a belt that's low contrast to the top will also help keep your torso from looking too short.

I also get around this by full-tucking but blouson-ing out the blouse so that it sits longer on the body and hides the transition point from shirt to pants. Pull a little bit of the top out all-around and and let it form a band around the waist. This obviously works better with soft, roomier tops.

Are you short-waisted? The high fitted waist may be emphasizing the difference between your top and bottom half. Hopefully you can post pics so we can sort it out.

Have you tried semi tucking a soft top with a roomy fit? That will balance out proportions.

Hi Angie,
I have curvy hips and full thighs but very petite on top. I love high waist jeans as they hold my post pregnancy tummy in. I have a high waist skinny jeans and I have been wanting to style them with a tucked in top. But something looks off. I feel as though my upper half is too small when i tuck in. Am i doing something wrong? Is there a way to style these jeans? I like the tuck in trend. Please advice.
