Hi guys. I realized I had posted this before my other lengthy post so I'm just getting back to you.

I did a major overhaul of my closet this weekend, especially with items that didn't fit and I'd worn too much. I found a pair of white and blue mid-rise jeans (looks high-rise on me) so will post later on, belly and all, with possible muffin top. :) I had ordered a pair of high rise from Everlane but it felt uncomfortably to high. May have to reconsider.

Okay, will post soon.

You'll wear higher rises brilliantly! Go for it! Do experiment, though, until you find the height that works best for you. You might have to try a few versions.

I wear high ish rises too and prefer them now because I don't get muffin top. I have hips and some flesh in that area and I feel the jeans smooth over that. I am hourglass shaped but not extreme.

For me, I don't like high contrast with the top and bottom when I tuck so I go for medium to low contrast.

I find jeans in general a bit tricky to fit - getting the waist, butt, hip, thigh, calf and length fit, in the wash I like....

Naz! Am in dc at the mo and was thinking of you and your fab style.

I have become the woman you describe and actually I love high rise jeans because the waist is closer to my waist size than mid rises were to my hip size. I feel they are more flattering for this reason. If you can, find ones with magic pockets.

re roundness in the belly....maybe i'm an outlier, but i'm finding that the higher rises actually work better at camouflaging it than the lower rises....

I love this thread; Angie, thanks for the reminder that a little roundness of belly is actually normal and natural and not always something to be sucked in and hidden away!

So fun to see you again, Naz!

I hear you. I was a little hesitant at first too: I definitely have a round belly and full hips, and find the semi-tuck quite flattering and don’t feel self-conscious doing it.

I’ve really been enjoying sporting my new high-rise jeans (photo attached so you can see how they look on). FWIW, I don’t have a defined waist, but do have a swayback like Angie, and find that the higher rise jeans don’t really gape or need altering on me.

ETA, these button-fly jeans are quite soft (but don’t stretch - just looked at the fabric content: 84% cotton, 15% polyester, 1% elastane), and
although the softer material is not a requisite (I’ve semi-tucked
with other, more rigid jeans too), it does add to the comfort factor if that's a concern.

Hope this helps :-)

Good to know Angie. I'll have to try some jeans on, but first I'm in the process of cleaning out the closet and have found some mid-high-rise jeans that I will have to share on an outfit post.

Hi, Naz. Great to see you. I've missed you.

You can absolutely wear high rises, and semi-tuck. The round female belly is not a problem. It's real, there, and all good. Many of my clients have round bellies and semi tuck with the best of them. You need a high rise - but not too high. And some flattering tops.

ALL my high rise jeans gape at the back (I have a sway back) - so I have them altered to fit perfectly. Easy fix. High rise pants on the other hand, have been much easier to fit at the back waist. Little need for alterations.

Hi Angie,

Hello there. It's been a long. I like the idea of a mid to high rise jean but how do you wear them if you have a larger tummy and hip? And my waist is smaller than my hips so would I have a gapping problem?

Naz
