I had this same question. I ordered a pair of release-hem split-hem bootcuts and was wondering about their longevity. I ended up deciding to return them because of issues with the size (a little too much fabric at the crotch, which is my nemesis!), but it's nice to know that the look will be cutting-edge.

To be honest, I don't see a lot of trendy hem/flared crops (other than the usual cropped pants/capri length in summer) in my suburban area. When I wore the Halogen cropped flares last winter, it felt quite daring. I liked the change *and* the practicality but I don't want to overdose on the look if it will be fleeting. More likely, it just hasn't really arrived here yet. Good to hear that Angie thinks it will last a while.

I wondered a little about this too. So many styles are cropped as well. So far I've bought one pair of released hem cropped jeans but they don't get a lot of wear. I DIYed a pair of released hem and slit the outer seam as well on some old jeans and I like the result. I might do a step/split hem on another pair of infrequently worn jeans as well. But it's good to hear Angie's encouragement for some trend longevity.

Angie, as I evaluate (and contemplate ordering more) NAS and non-NAS fall items, I am wondering if you could look into your crystal ball and tell us if all the different hem treatments will look dated in a short time because they are super trendy, or if fashion is moving in a new direction and these will stay current beyond fall/winter 2017/18?
