Thank you for the replies. I have never worn glasses as a fashionable accessory, they were always bought inexpensively as a back up to my contacts, just to have on hand in case I needed them. I am excited to invest in a good pair for everyday wearing.

How exciting :)

Either way. Makes no difference. Perhaps do the haircut first. Fast gratification.

You should pick glasses that work with your face shape and coloring. If you won't dye your hair and just get a new cut you can definitely get new glasses before getting a cut. I'd just make an appointment for the hair and then start searching for glasses, it might be a while before you find the right pair anyway.

I just did glasses first with haircut to come. But I'm flexible with my hair and really was more focused on changing it up with my frames. But that was just a matter of priority for me, not because I felt it was "the way" to go about it.

I'm thinking haircut first....I think it will affect your look more overall.

My instinct would be hair cut first, then glasses - if only because you are stuck with that haircut to some extent, whereas you can quickly try on a huge variety of glasses styles.

I would say glasses first, and then hair. Hair is more changeable, and you probably will have the glasses for longer than a particular hairstyle.

Angie, I have spent the last few years growing out a decades-worn pixie. During this time I have played around with simple cuts at varying lengths, more for the economy than looks or style.

I have also been a long time contact wearer but went to wearing an old set of eyeglasses when my contacts ran out, also for the sake of economy.

Now I am looking to both get a smart, current haircut style, and a modern, stylish pair of new glasses.

Which should I do first? Does it really matter? Do I pick glasses around just my face shape without thought to how my hair will be, or get the haircut then choose the frames?

For more information, I don't have a specific haircut in mind, I will trust the stylist to work with my face, tolerance for the cut's styling maintenance, and my natural hair.

If any members have experience or thoughts on this, feel free to chime in.
