Laurel, you need a tinted moisturizer, some blush, mascara and lippie. Head over to the Laura Mercier counter. Good luck tomorrow.

You could also go to a large natural food store; the big ones have makeup too, and I've found that everything they carry is labeled as far as gluten.

Lipstick, or tinted lip balm, and eyeliner/mascara (or even just mascara) sounds perfectly adequate to me!

I felt like I should chime in because I have celiac disease and also tend to have skin reactions to makeup that contains gluten, too.
If you are in a pinch and can access a Sephora, I do recommend 'Bite' lipsticks as Cheryle mentioned above. They're Canadian-made, food-grade quality lipsticks/glosses that are certified GF.

Another brand that *can* be safe depending on your level of sensitivity is Tarte, also sold at Sephora. Their products contain no gluten and state so, but they can't assure that there is absolutely no cross-contamination. I've used their mascara, eyeliner-sticks, concealer, and makeup remover with no problem (so far)!

My absolute favourite brand, though, if you do place a special order, is Red Apple Lipstick. I adore this company so much that I should probably work for them! Their lipsticks, glosses, mascara, eye shadow, and eye liner -- every product -- are 100%, absolutely gluten-free and contain no parabens or other weird stuff. They have such a commitment to health and to outstanding customer service and their Rallye Balm (lip balm) is the best thing I've ever put on my lips. (Their lipstick has the moisturizing qualities and feel of the balm, too.) Anyway, they are absolutely worth it.

In terms of drugstore makeup, I believe bare minerals is reported to be gluten free. If you go to this site - http://www.glutenfreemakeupgal.com - you can access a long list of safe makeup by entering your email. (I'm not affiliated with this, just thought it might be helpful.)

Good luck!

You've been given good advice. I'll just add that Afterglow Cosmetics is certified gluten free and organic. I've been using them for years and they're a great company with great products and service. I order online, but if you have a retailer by you a little translucent finishing powder and some organic lippie would be quite natural but more polished. I hope you have a nice event!

The beet effect looks more subtle than I was expecting and I suppose you could just buy beet juice and avoid some work and mess. But for a more polished look, mascara, lipstick and possibly a BB cream type product does the job for low key natural look me. I'm not sure the beet lip stain makes the same "put together" impression but maybe with some lip blam or even just Vaseline on top.

I agree with what the other Fabbers have suggested. Wear your usual make up and add earrings or a necklace for colour. Some mascara and lip balm is enough. I don't wear a lot of make up either. I would think a beet would be very strong colouring. Maybe scary.

I recently purchased a lipstick from sephora by BITE beauty and it is all natural and gluten free. You might want to check the brand out as it sounds like it may work for you.

Because I don't think I have seen you and am not sure of our colouring, if you are wearing a black dress and need some 'colour' why not add a statement necklace in a colour that is very flattering to your skin tone. Then just go au natural with respect to make up, or with just the little you might normally wear. I have a gluten intolerance but make up has never been an issue, I am sorry you have that challenge.

Stick to your natural makeup. Eyeliner or mascara and a lip colour that doesn't cause allergy is enough makeup for someone who usually doesn't wear any. If you don't have a lipstick, just use a lip balm you use everyday for a bit of shine on your already bright lips. Enjoy the wedding!

ETA: You're basically looking for a nice, safe upgrade to your everyday look. A pair of pretty dangly earrings, a different hairstyle that frames your face, or a beautiful bib necklace that fills the open neckline of your dress is good enough to add a punch to your wedding guest outfit; without risking makeup you could be allergic to.

Okay... So, I realize that's a strange title, but here we go.

The wedding I'm officiating is Saturday. I found a lovely Black dress! I'll post a photo sometime. But I'm recalling now you said something about wearing makeup and this is sort of a crisis because I don't have any! You see, I have a severe gluten allergy and a lot of makeup has gluten in it. So I got rid of all if it, planning to eventually special order some GF makeup, but I never did and here I am, a day away from my friend's big day. Um.... oops.

So my question is twofold: When you said "wear makeup", can you elaborate on what you meant? Which specific kinds of makeup, for someone who goes natural 99.9% of the time?

And secondly, do you or anyone have any ideas for some natural/hippie/glutenfree alternatives that I could use at this eleventh hour? I am thinking I'll use a beet to stain my lips, which are pretty bright naturally (fun side note: when I get dehydrated my lips get so bright I look like I'm wearing lipstick! But usually the next day they are cracked. :-\ )

When I have worn makeup in the past, I usually go with a natural looking lip color and some eyeliner/mascara. How does that sound? I do have an eyeliner I could use but it tends to make my eyes water if I get it in the wrong place. Bleh.

Thanks!
