I hear you! This is not an uncommon problem. Have you tried keeping the button open and adding a camisole?

Which BB's fit did you try?

Have you tried button downs by BR, AT, the Loft, J. Crew and Zara?

Hi Angie. I love your site! Practical advice for someone who is decidedly not into fashion, but wants to look nice and put together (i.e. me)!

I like button down shirts that are fitted along my sides, but when I find sizes that fit well along my sides, the fronts always gape open between the first and second buttons that are buttoned. If I go up a size, the sides are not fitted well anymore. This especially happens with Brooks Brothers. Do I have to get custom shirts or is there a brand you know of that is nicely fitted that does not gape in the front? I am 5' 8'' and usually wear size 8 or 10 on top (or medium). Thanks!!
