Angie, thanks....I figured if the 0 fit Smittie it would fit me. I still haven't ordered. It keeps going out of stock in Canada. It might come back in or I might just order from Nordstrom.

C1, I don't benefit from the same specials at J Crew here -- they do have sales but this was specifically excluded from the last promotion and it's rare for the blazers to go on sale.

Also, Staysfit, I just accept that blazers are going to be too short in the arms on me If you notice they're usually too short on the arms of the models as well, so sometimes I think it's a design to show off bracelets or arm cuffs?

I was at J. Crew yesterday and looked for the blazer. They had it, but the smallest size was a 4 so I didn't try it on. Just beware that the wool has a rougher feel than the wool from their schoolboys in the past, but it's not a dealbreaker. The color is amazing though. I suspect it'll go for 25% off sometime this week, so watch for that.

Angie, I find J. Crew runs big for tops and kinda small for bottoms, which probably means that they're cutting for rectangles more than anyone else, I guess. I can wear a 00 on top (like I am today) and a 6 on bottom with J. Crew! Which is why I was so pleasantly surprised by the cut of the "perfect fit" shirt--the 0 was actually cut with room in the bust but narrow in the waist and wide in the hips.

Angie, I meant the Madewell Lauren at Nordstrom is this Tribune one at Madewell, as far as I can tell. I ordered it but sent it back as the shoulder fit was off as usual.

Suz, looking forward to seeing you in your pink blazer, whether this or another!

Suz, I refitted the blazer and am slapping my forehead giving you the wrong information. Sorry. *hangs head*.

00 was a pretty good fit, though still quite roomy (I liked the room). 000 fit better but was far too short everywhere. You need a size 0 in this blazer.

Stadium coat fits me best in a 00.

(I do find that J.Crew runs a size big these days).

Smittie, LOVE the blazer on you.

Thanks, Sheryl. My situations'a bit different as I'm in Canada. But so is Smittie. So I could call the Ottawa store perhaps...hmmm. It hasn't come back in online.

I think you can still call stores directly, and if the item is in stock, it can be shipped to you directly from the store. You could call one to confirm, as I haven't done this for a while, so they may have changed their policies.

Smittie, you are killing me! You look amazing in both of these. Wow. Thank you for doing that research. And it seems the stuff is still available in Canada in sizes...just not online. Hmmm.

You are stunning in both these colours!

I'm going to pass on the lilac coat for now but still very tempted by the jacket. I don't think I can do it the kind of justice that you do, though.

I did some recon.
The 0 fit me best in the blazer and the 2 fit me best in the lilac coat.
Colours in JCrew photos are accurate.
I loved the lilac on me.
Actually I loved the pink on me too.
Wish i had room in the budget for these, but alas! no.

SUZ -- this is such a gorgeous outfit. Everything about it is perfection. I would be all over this if they still had my size in stock. They don't. I grieve quietly to myself because this is one outfit that will be harder to say "next."

I have also been admiring that fuchsia color (I don't think either flamingo or cranberry is at all right for the name.) I hope you find your size. I suspect it's one of those items that will make you glow.

Well, I lost my chance, alas -- sold out again! But I'll look tomorrow and if I continue dreaming about it I will order from Nordstrom's. There's a 0 on ebay and if that were the right size, it's a lot cheaper (and a new one) -- but getting it here is such a hassle and I'll have to pay duties (as I will from Nordstrom's as well)...so...

If it is meant to be, it's meant to be, and if not, I'll scratch my fuchsia itch another way somehow.

Una, I don't think the Madewell blazer is the same style.

Suz, the 00 fit better in my torso, but I was fine with the boxy fit of the 0, and much preferred the length. FWIW, I didn't find the gold buttons inferior quality - simply Retro. That's what blazer buttons were like 25 years ago.

mtnsofthemoon, I'm glad you pulled the trigger and wish you much joy with your happy new blazer. The colour is DELICIOUS.

Angie, so glad to hear you think this beautiful jacket will not date. I pulled the trigger due to the gorgeous color (pink blazer has been on my mental list for several years now). Also I thought it would be a great "refresher" for my work wardrobe. I have oodles of blazers but have not been wearing them the past several years. I was happy to see menswear and "suiting" pieces emerge again in the Fall/Winter trends. I love menswear! Esp. mixing with feminine pieces. I am a solid size 4 in BR and found this jacket a perfect fit for my frame in size 4 also. I have been a loyal BR client but over the past 3 years have been so disappointed in their quality. This year I have ventured into JCrew more than ever before.

I tried it on, and the size 4 fit me perfectly except for the sleeves! Way Too Short! Actually, the jacket was a bit big in the 4, but the sleeves would have been ridiculous in a smaller size. They only made a few of these in tall sizes. Impossible to get. If you have proportionally long arms, this isn't a great choice. (I think you can kind of see the sleeve length is short on the model in the picture).

I know...I loved that pic, too! The argyle sweater has also been in my Finds. Though I know I wouldn't wear it tied to my waist -- too fussy for me.

I would have kept gold buttons for sure with blonde hair! I equally wore gold and silver when my hair was blonde. I agree they add a retro flair.

If I go for this I might yet keep the buttons (though reviews suggest they are not nice quality). It all depends on whether they would work with my new hair. They might...I note the model is wearing greyish snakeskin shoes and it seems to work well.

The pink is such a happy colour...and always so flattering.

SAME BLAZER. Why they insisted on giving it a different name, I don't know!

I have been wearing XXS and 00's at J.Crew for a while now. You usually wear a size bigger than me, so perhaps go for a size 2. The 0 fit me quite well in this jacket. Quite fluid. NOT very tailored, which goes with the vibe. The 00 was too short everywhere. Hope that helps.

Angie, have you had that Pink Flamingo Rhodes blazer on? How is the fit? I am debating this jacket -- it was sold out for a long time on the Canadian site but then popped back in, and out, and then back into stock in my size. (Pants currently out of stock but that might change).

I can't tell from the reviewers whether I'd be better in a 0 or a 2. I typically wear a 0 in shirts at J. Crew or XS in sweaters (sometimes S if I want a more fluid fit and the fit is described as "fitted.") I typically buy a 2 in their pants and it's usually pretty good on me -- occasionally a bit on the loose side, but sizing down would make it too short in rise.

With jackets, I generally try to go for the smallest comfortable (i.e. non-restrictive) size I can wear, because that size is less likely to be too long or loose in the arms or too long in the torso. You saw me in a size 0 Club Monaco jacket a couple of years ago, and I also typically fit the 0 at BR.

Also, is "pink flamingo" the same thing as "cranberry punch" at Nordstrom? There it is still in stock (if the same thing).

I'm waffling largely because returns are such a pain for me, and because I haven't been wearing my blazers as much in the past year (probably due to weather). But a fuchsia-like jacket has been a HEWI of mine for 3 years, so it's tempting. My lifestyle seems increasingly casual right now but that will likely change again in a year or two. Still, by then it might be hopelessly dated so no point buying for a future that may not come.
