No! It`s not you, Suz, or anyone else. Maybe “chagrined student” is a better phrase? I was just feeling dumb for missing it in the trends report. I was out with only my phone on me and clearly skipped over in my scrolling after skimming the wide pants paragraph. Glad to know my crops still have some life left in them, especially since I`m on the slower end to adopt trends!

Oh, no, sorry if I gave that impression!! I think it's good to discuss on the forum too because we can get into the nitty gritty of how it works and hoe people manage it for their particular circumstances. I'm so sorry, Column, if I made you feel awkward!

Feeling like a reprimanded student. I looked for pant lengths yesterday and did NOT see that! How did I miss it? Thank you!

Column, good question!

What Suz, Janet, and Jonsey said.

As per my post yesterday:

"Full-length pants are just as on-trend as cropped pants. Full lengths are either very long, and skim or sweep the surface of the ground, or they’re at the new and more practical shorter full length that showcases your shoes. Cropped pants are cropped anywhere from two to six inches above the ankle bone. Sometimes they are cropped an inch above the ankle bone. Cropped pants work well in Winter when you pair them with insulating tall shaft boots".

Not Angie, but I'll add my two cents: Cropped pants are still going strong, along with long pants! I wear cropped pants more in the fall and winter than I do in the summer (too hot)--I pair them with all different sorts of boots in my very cold climate.

I think Angie covered this in her trend posts -- lengths are still all over the map. Anything goes, really. A lot depends on your climate. For some, ankle baring only works in specific seasons; for others, it might be fine. Full length is fab but again, is a lot harder to manage at floor sweeping lengths in slush and ice and snow (or on stairs, for that matter, or --oy! -- escalators.)

For my climate (PNW) I tend to wear wide crops only in spring/ summer/ fall. Unless they are wool, in which case I can wear in this winter climate, but not my former (eastern Ontario) climate. In both climates, I need footwear (and tights) that closes the gap or else it's impossible.

A narrower crop is a bit more practical for cooler temps.

Though the snow and slush of winter is still (hopefully!) a few months away, nothing beats the shorter lengths of cropped pants for out and about! Longer lengths are fine for car-to-venue, but not for urban treks. Of course folks with year ‘round mild weather or no snow, can wear longer lengths year ‘round.

I have two pair of wide crops and both were shown for summer but I find them too warm. Both have some wool in them. I wear them with dark tights and flat loafers but both pair may be on the way out as they are too fussy to get much wear. Dee is right. They are more practical than long wides for winter, but I usually reach for something else.

I think of crops as transitional weather, so figure they're here to stay. Sooo glad for full lengths again though!

My impression is that cropped pants are not going anywhere. Seems like there are plenty still available at retail, and designers still seem to be making them. But it’s nice to see more options in full lengths return!

Yes Column, I was wondering that myself since I just recently jumped on the wide cropped bandwagon. Not sure how to really wear them beyond sandals and sneakers. My crops seem really more for summer but I think that they are more practical than longer length wide legs in the winter.

It`s been clear pant lengths are coming down, but what do we now do with our crops? I feel ok with footwear that closes the gap, from high-shaft booties to ankle-strap sandals,. But what about flats and sneakers that bare the ankle? Or the “new” crop/full-length that covers the ankle but exposes the shoe (particularly flats)—where is that on the trend spectrum? Will they look like 1970s “floods?” Won`t summer always welcome crops? Please share advice and show some visual examples!
