				<description>&#060;p&#062;And a field trip to the fabric store :)&#060;br /&#062;
Yes, there's a big difference in quality in all sorts of fabrics. Even straightforward sounding things like cotton could be anything from a thin t shirt to a sweater.

				<description>&#060;p&#062;Thanks Angie! How interesting. Sounds like there is more to the process than I imagined! &#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;Cardiff Girl, looking it up online is the solution of course! I don’t know why I haven’t done that! But you are right, there is a difference with quality (in any kind of fabric) and cheaply!

				<description>&#060;p&#062;I m not Angie but I agree it can be confusing.l find that if I am not sure what a fabric is ,looking it up on line can be very helpful.This doesn’t always help with the feel of the fabric though as quality plays into what s called the handle of the fabric as well.For example,cheap viscose can be rough and feel very much like poly.whereas quality viscose can feel smooth,cool and soft.I have learnt a lot more about fabrics since I took an interest in sewing simply through handling them in fabric stores.Experience is a good teacher in this case.

				<description>&#060;p&#062;Hi Angie and  fabulous fabbers,&#060;br /&#062;
 Over the last few years I have been doing more and more shopping online and I am surprised to find I am in a confusion concerning fabric descriptions, especially when I shop at Boden! Several times I have ordered something only to find it was a different kind of fabric than I expected. Sometimes the fabric is described as knit or knitted. I have expected a sweater type fabric for both of those, but that is not always the case. There is also jersey (T-shirt fabric?) ponte, ottoman, broderie, crêpe, poplin, chino, and Pima! Not to mention all the regular names of fabrics that I am familiar with. Angie, could you enlighten us on this subject? Has anyone else been surprised by what arrived in the mail?
