I have no advice for you, but I had to say that I love the look in that photo and want to copy the whole thing! Where did you find that?

I think Doro and Shannon are both onto something...shoulder fit and the type of shoulders you have. I used to do this a lot but then started using shoulder bags and that didn't work very well.

I love this look - it seems so elegant and European to me. But I have quite pronouned sloping shoulders and can barely keep a bra strap up!!! There's no way a coat would stay put.

I've also wondered about this and while the look is not for me, I believe the secret is a very structured/tailored jacket so the shoulders fit properly, it doesn't slide while you move, and you don't have to continually fiddle and readjust it. And the crazy wings (lol!) might be gone with a jacket in a softer fabric?

Nicole, what about a sweater chain? Would that work?

Alright so the verdict is, I AM insane and there is no trick. I guess i'm just not used to it then. Also i'm amazed at your superior coat draping AND multi dog walking skills.

Ah. I've been doing this for years - and sometimes with two little Yorkies in tow. In fact I walked arounf U-Village like this today!

I wish I had words of wisdom for you Nicole, but I don't. I grew up with a Mum that wore her coats and jacket like this often so it has always looked and felt very natural to me. I guess practice makes perfect. If you do it often enough - it feels normal.

Maybe i'm insane but is there some sort of trick to make this look successful?! I've been seeing it all over various fashion blogs and i like it but i've tried to do it with several different coats/jackets and i just feel...silly with the arms waving about. And i feel like they stick out like...crazy wings rather than drape nicely like in all the photos i'm looking at. It doesn't *seem* like it should be difficult to accomplish. O.o

If there is no trick and i really am insane that's fine too.
