I agree about the high arch: I have a very high arch and my feet are of average width (definitely not narrow), and I think D'Orsays look good on me. I also have a pair of bright red patent D'Orsay peep-toe and love them; I hope you love yours too!

Thanks, Angie. Here's why I'm asking: I don't know why, but brightly colored patent pumps are appealing to me lately. I think I'm just tired of playing it safe with black, brown, tan and gray shoes all the time, and so I've been eyeing shoes in unexpectedly bright shades of red, yellow and green lately. Now this pair of red-orange pumps has caught my eye, and they're certainly cheap enough, but they're d'Orsays, which I swore off years ago:

http://www.amazon.com/Nine-Wes.....038;sr=8-1

What do you all think? I may at least order them and see. I have a medium-sized foot, but do have a high arch (thanks for that input, Rheostaticsfan). I think I may just be more curious about the red-orange shade than anything else, as I've been experimenting with mixing red and gray a lot recently.

My opinion is that it works best with EITHER a narrow foot or a high arch. I have wide feet and a very high arch and I do find it to be a flattering style on my foot.

I've heard it said that toe cleavage is "sexy". Personally, I find nothing appealing or sexy about toe cleavage. But an exposed arch: to me that is sexy footwear.

I may be out of sync with general opinion on that one.

You need quite a narrow foot to pull off this style in my opinion. Other than that, they'll work with any garment you'd dress up with pumps.

This style of shoe is incredibly unflattering on me. Nothing to do with body type and everything to do with foot type. I have wide, flat feet that spill over the sole, which neither looks nor feels very nice. Your arch needs to rest just right in the shoe (when standing and sitting).

Laura I was wondering the same thing. They are shoes where the vamp of the shoe is cut away very close to the toe box, and the sides are cut away, revealing the arch of the foot.

For example - http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/31.....erralID=NA

Angie, are there any specific guidelines to be mindful of when wearing d'Orsay pumps? Should they only be worn with a certain length or type of skirt, for instance, or can they be worn with pants? (And if so, what kinds of pants?) Should petite women stay away from them, or can women of all different heights pull them off? What about women with chunky/muscular calves? I've had my eye on a pair for a few weeks now, but I remember swearing off d'Orsay pumps years ago because I had some that seemed to make my chunky calves look even larger and of a bovine quality no matter what I paired them with. Maybe it was just the particular pair I had back then, but if you have any advice to offer, I would really appreciate it!
