I think you hit the nail right on the head when you said perhaps the sweater and skirt don't even go together. I'd say at least not as they are here. You have three disparate elements here and nothing to pull them together.</p> <p>I'd second Joy's two suggestions. I suspect that the high contast of sweater with skirt added to the length of the sweater throws things off a bit. The same sweater in tan and grey, for example would probably work, I think. Do you have a denim pencil skirt that could be paired with the sweater? That said , I like the colors together and it doesn't look bad; certainly not frumpy!
