I've not had this happen with KUTs. It has happened with other dark denim, but for some reason dye transfer only seems to happen for me to leather or rubber (like shoes or bags), and never to other fabrics.

ETA: On the leather or rubber, rubbing alcohol usually gets the dye out. I think probably a magic eraser would work too.

I've had jeans that do this, but never after they've been washed a couple of times. Something like Retayne or a Color Catcher in the laundry might help. My worst recent incident was when I got caught in a surprise rainstorm and the dye transfered between my jeans and the back of my cross body purse. Thankfully it was faux and I was able to scrub the majority of it off with soft scrub. But that makes me think that moisture is the key - as long as you don't get wet or really sweaty, and you've washed the jeans, it's unlikely to happen.

Yay. I'm pretty excited about this jeans. I came late to the Kut from the Kloth table. But they fit me like they were designed and made specifically for me. I want more!!! I seriously considered paying for two-day shipping from Nordstorms. But I couldn't quite rationalize that.

Clients have not complained about dye transfer from the KUTS. Premium denim yes - but not the KUTS.

Thanks Shedev. Bad news is sometimes the most helpful. I'll be prepared and not panic if it should happen. I ordered three pair (grey, black, and dark navy) with the intent of keeping at least one pair. If the fit is good, I can rationalize keeping two pair.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I did have it happen with a pair of Kuts. It got on the white rubber part of the bottom of a pair of converse. I used sneaker cleaner and it came off. I also have a black pair that it didn't happen. I did prewash the pair that color rubbed off before wearing. There is a small chance that it could happen. Rit makes a color remover that will most likely get it out if it does happen.

I've found that pre-washing in white vinegar helps to set the dye. That said, I've still had dark wash denim rub off on my lighter leather bags. No problem removing it , though. Leather cleaner works.

Hi, Sterling! All the Kuts I've purchased say this, though I've never actually had it happen. It may just be a CYA disclaimer on their part--or it may be real, in which case I'm not much help! Maybe a pre-wash? The only pair of colour transfer jeans I owned were from target, the transfer wasn't bad and easily washed off light clothing, though it did do permanent damage to a cream soft leather bag.

Angie and others: I want to buy new jeans from Kut from the Kloth in black and dark ink. Both items indicate that "dark dye may transfer to lighter materials." How do forum members deal with this problem? I would typically wear the jeans with a white button down shirt (or something very similar).
