Sorry, I have yet to get my camera out for a photo. Plus trying to pin up atleast 6" of excess material doesn't give you a good idea of what the final look is going to be - the dilemma of being petite! Thank you all for the advice - I'm taking my pants to the tailor to have the cuffs removed (just barely sweeping the ground - thanks shiny). I hope they won't hang in my closet...

I have some cuffed pants and I'm only 5'0". I also don't think I have particularly long legs, proportionately speaking. I haven't worn them in awhile, but when I have, I always got compliments, so I have to imagine they aren't that bad!

They are form-fitting in the hips and thighs, but then are wider at the cuffs. I would call them wide-legged. I wear them with heels, and they nearly touch the ground. (PPL).

So I would think it's one of those "it depends" things... cuffs are usually and generally difficult for someone our height, but every now and then, with just the right fit, it can work.

As a general rule you definetly want to wear them with heels, and you want to be really, really careful with the length. You can't fudge the length at all and have them a little on the short side. They should nearly sweep the ground, with very little shoe showing.

If you are short overall however have long legs and a short torso you might be able to wear cuffs. I havent seen a picture of you so dont know if you are heavy across the bust. If you are then wider cuffed pants will balance out the top half of your body. But generally speaking cuffs do tend to make the legs look shorter.

yes, your instinct is right. remove the cuffs. unnecessary clutter standing in the way of an elongating line from waist to shoe.

Tanya is spot on. I'd avoid cuffed pants at your height Joann. BUT! A photo is the best guage.

I am not Angie, but cuffs in general tend to make one's legs look shorter. I'm 5'6" but with short legs, and never wear cuffs, I always remove them if pants have them.

However, it would be the best if you posted a photo of yourself wearing the pants. You might have pretty long legs in the proportion to your torso so it might work for you.

Are cuffed pants appropriate when you are only 5'1"? I know it's all about proportion, but I'm not sure they look right. I'm thinking of having the cuff removed when I have them hemmed.
