If you want to stick to neutrals, I like olive and dark chocolate brown with navy as well as cognac. I am also in the market for a new puffer and dress coat this year - thanks for putting these on my radar!

Gaby, when you mentioned you had grey hair, my first thought was - GREY! Grey is your 'hair enhancer' and is going to make your hair look gorgeous. Plus, it's a color already on YOU and will only make you look amazing. It's neutral and will go with anything, and you can put many different color scarves with it to change the look.

Navy would be a great second choice, and we're seeing a lot of fab navy coats this fall. But go for the grey. You won't regret it:-)

I love other neutrals with navy also, like camel, grey and silver.

Love Lisa's suggestions! They'll add interest to the pretty navy coat you're considering (great choice, btw). A scarf can add interest, too, along these lines, with those same colors. A black and white print or a classic Burberry-style camel plaid come to mind.

Thanks ladies, I do think the red color family would be a good choice, and I'm sure easy enough to find in many shades as you suggested. I do like the idea of mustard also, it's not as expected and would be a great pop of color as well. And definitely thanks for the clarification, I did think you meant ditch the navy coat and go for all items in the reddish family. That being said you did open my mind to not getting so stuck on one idea. Before making any final choices I'm going to have fun looking. Thanks again!

Lisa and Suz have you sorted, Gaby. But what colour are the boots?

I love Lisa's answers.

You can also try fuchsia if you like (though you might not want it as an everyday bag and you probably don't want fuchsia boots!) :)

Is it OK not to be Angie and still answer this? You had my attention when you mentioned Canada Goose

I'd vote for another colour than navy - say a burgundy or cognac, or red. With grey hair, those would be modern and striking colours to wear. I'd repeat those colours in boots, scarves and gloves - not the same all the way around, but versions of those colours . Black is an obvious match, and you could use black boots, bag and gloves when you wanted to "dress up" the parka, which I do a lot in winter. (dress it up, that is) .

Mustard is a great pairing with navy if you are feeling adventurous - would look great in a print scarf or leather gloves, for example.

eta - coming back with an OOOPS - I meant another colour than navy for your accessories , not the coat itself!!

Hi Angie,
I'm planning on getting a new winter coat this year. My life and style is very casual, jeans are my go to pants during the fall and winter.
Right now I like the Canada Goose Slim Fit Shelburne Parka in navy. Navy is a good color for me since I have grey hair. I'm also planning on new ankle boots and new cross body bag. Aquatalia has a Farin boot in the Nordstrom Anniversary sale that looks attractive and comes in several colors. My question is this: I get very confused about what color my accessories should be. Several bag designers are showing navy bags this season, is navy coat and bag too much? I don't want to dress boring nor do I want to be all over the place. Can you provide some guidelines on what color should my booties and bag be should I get the navy coat? Also what about gloves?
