I think some sneakers like this could work well. I have a couple of pairs of adidas that fit me and I can also wear Nike shoes. I would recommend going to a sports store and scan for what appeals and then start trying them on. I agree with Traci on embracing the sneaker. What about one of these? Also many of the ladies have the Josef Seibel Caspian - do you think that might work?

I do wish the sole on the nikes wasn't white. I'm not sure how I feel about solid black sneakers either. I think if you go with that style you'd be better off fully embracing the loud sneaker colors.

I have a somewhat wide forefoot and toes that need to be able to wiggle in all directions. This summer I picked up these barefoot style sneakers before a camping trip and they have become one of my go to walking shoes.

http://www.6pm.com/vivobarefoo.....ubergine~1

They're not incredibly stylish, but I don't find them as jarring to my eye as I do many heavier sneakers. I find them ok (not fab or amazing, but ok) with casual skirts and dresses.

This thread really hits home for me. When we're on vacation my number one issue is always sensible footwear. It's such a battle between form and function. I'm also noticing that it's not really a luxury, but a necessity that I carry atleast one pair of shoes per day of travel. I'm finding I often change a couple of times during a day for comfort if I have the option.

If you find you need more support, I want to second Denise's suggestion of a lace up bootie with orthotics inside.

Good luck! I literally feel your pain on this one!

PF Flyers makes classic sneakers that are wider than Cons and have a removeable insole so that you can insert a custom orthotic or one of your choosing. The heel counter tends to collapse, however, so that's a bit annoying when putting them on. They are sold by Zappos and are on Amazon.

I find that a lace-up bootie with a flat or under 2" heel becomes an all-day shoe if it fits right and has the help of a good insole (Superfeet). So that is one alternative to sneakers.

Joy I tried Clarks soft wide width oxfords & they squeezed my toes:( I could look into other comfort brands. It isn't so much the cushioning as it is the toe box area. Square toes are not in right now. I have a square foot like some of the Camper shoes. I have Earth shoes that are fine on my toes but they make my back hurt. I thought they were suppsed to be good for your back.

Like Rachylou I wondered if the Nike brand is comfortable for you. I can't wear them either but it has to do with my whole foot, including the top, not fitting comfortably. Would an Oxford in a comfort brand work? I can see you fitting the black Nikes into your style if they are comfortable.

Rachy I found the same thing with a different pair of nikes but I saw these in the store & they looked wide. I rarely find sneakers that work so we will see. Diesel had square toed ones that fit my square feet but they are dated. I am too vain to wear dated shoes, even if they are comfortable. Crazy I know.

I think these would look great with your style, Elle. But do you wear Nikes? I can't wear them. They cut in sharply across the top of the toe, whereas my toes are closer to being straight across if that makes any sense...

I don't have to tell you I am not Angie but I think you could make these look good. I am not a lover of sneakers but I like colour scheme and the simplicity of the design. I can see these working with skinny jeans and a variety of other things. I do think they are worth a try Elle.

After shoe/foot hell in England I am trying to find comfortable shoes for travel
or lots of walking at home. Converse chucks hurt me & my Ash virgins do less but still do. Regular shoes that are usually comfortable here in LA hurt as well. It is mostly due to corns developing between toes. My feet are wide higher up the foot where my toes are. I don't mind lack of arch support nearly as much as my painful corns. I have leather converse mary janes that are comfortable so maybe I should just stick with those. They seem too casual but so are athletic shoes I guess. I like fashionable light weight nikes on others but don't think they fit my style. What do you think of these for me? http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/ni.....ts-_-1_9_D
