I have 40 cms calves myself and I am 4'11, but not wondering about the buckle part! But I do agree with merry 77 it all depends on the boot itself how it fits rather than the buckle that is on it!

How lovely to see you again Kendra, I've missed you!

I wouldn't worry too much about the buckle or other details, I could be wrong, but I think it's more important to have a 'high' enough boot (as opposed to mid-calf length)...

The buckle is fine, Kendra. Are these to wear over jeans or with frocks and skirts?

I've been trying on lots of boots lately. I think whether or not it makes them look taller depends on where the buckle hits, how wide the boot itself is, and how wide your leg is where the buckle hits. When you think of ppl for clams and skirts, if it hits at the narrow part, it draws attention to the slimness at that spot instead of the wideness below it. If it hits at the wide part, then it will call attention to that. The overall fit of the boot makes a difference too. It's just hard to say without trying them on IMHO.

Hum tough one. I wonder if buckles might make them appear wider. Actually no don't think they would make them look wider but would probably draw the eye to the widest part of the calf?

I know there are a couple of others here that suffer the "wide calves" syndrome. And by wide calves I mean larger than 15.5" circumference. So I thought I would ask this question here in case others have the same question.

I was wondering if extra features like the buckles on these boots (link below), will actually make calves appear wider? Is there a way at all to pick boots that may help calves appear slimmer?
