Thanks K.M. for this topic. Low-rise bootcut is the only shape that feels truly flattering to my figure. That was true when I was lean, and it's true now. But perhaps that's exactly the kind of thinking that has people wearing acid-washed elastic-back high-waisted baggy jeans. So I'm eager to hear how people in the know keep bootcuts updated.

Hi Beth Ann, how would you top them now? (And actually, how did we top them before?... Sorry, I'm so out of the game!!!)

They're back! Which is a such a relief for a curvy woman like me! I do think we'll have to top them differently than before, and I don't see as many of the extreme low rises this time around (which I never wore anyway). Love the Joie baby boot cuts that RWD posted above!

I don't think I will ever give up my hoot cuts, so I am glad they are trending back. They suit my body type, which will always trump trends IMHO.

I'm team bootcuts, The shape is flattering on me, and even when skinnies came into style, I was still team bootcut. What looks good on your figure is always in style, I think. I may be biased, but I think a good bootcut is a classic, and as long as you're not wearing the trendy blingy type, I think they look timeless. They are a good basic.

I too have mostly shifted to skinny jeans and also slim leg summer pants but this winter I wanted to try some boot cuts again. The first ones I ordered from Shopbop were just too flared so I looked for some with a narrower leg opening of 16" and found these. Joie Baby Boot Jeans These don't feel some overwhelming and are a nice transition into a more flared cut.

Nows an excellent time to get back into boot cuts after many seasons of skinnies. They make girls with hips and rears look nicely balanced and they add curves to those underblessed with curves. Looks like the baby bootcut is a modern rendition.

I bought a high waisted bootcut jeans two days back from Next at regular price (their newly in stock). Bootcuts are everywhere! I dont think pants that are so flattering will ever be out?

Thank you! So glad to hear this! Sometimes I am afraid that, as I get older (I'm almost 40), I'll become the modern-day equivalent of those people still wearing high-waisted baggy jeans long after the 80s just because it's what they were used to... if you know what I mean! Angie, this website+forum+blog is wonderful. Thank you!

Not Angie, but I don't think bootcuts are ever going to be out. Once you are an Active Member you'll see in the last few days a lot of people have been posting bootcut looks. Angie has some great posts on the blog on bootcuts too.

Dear Angie,
I'm new here, so I apologize if this has been asked recently. Are bootcuts destined to the fashion trash bin in the foreseeable future? I wear skinnies sometimes, and I like them, but to be honest I think my body type looks better with a bootcut. I have short legs and a long torso and the skinnies + ankle booties don't help me, whereas a longish bootcut with any heeled shoe does wonders to lengthen my legs. But I don't want to look hopelessly outmoded. So... can bootcuts stay, or should they go?
TIA!
K.M.
