I would caution against using measurements alone to determine your figure. A wider, flatter shape (less booty) might have the exact same measurements as a narrower, deeper shape (more booty). The link to Inside Out Style is great help; look at yourself straight on -- or even take a photo -- and imagine the lines and shape guides Imogene draws in that post.

Those are about my measurements and when I posted a pic everyone declared I was an hour glass.

I actually have reallllly similar measurements to you and I'm the same height! I'm heavier in the hips so I tend towards pear-shaped, but like everyone else, I'm inclined to say you'd be close to an hourglass. And again, I agree with the cry for pictures!

In the so-called "ideal" female figure (the hourglass), the waist is about 70% as wide as the hips. That translates to about a ten inch difference, which is pretty much what you have. Your bust and hip measurements are pretty close. So, yes, I would agree (in the absence of a photo) that you are probably a slim hourglass.

The main reason a photograph makes a difference is that it's not just the three numbers -- bust, waist, hips -- that matter here. For example, I don't know how broad or angular your shoulders are. That can matter more than the size of your breasts in terms of determining body shape. Also, I don't know how long or short your legs are, or how long- or short-waisted you are. If you're short-waisted, you're likely to look a bit more rectangular than hourglassy, given your measurements.

Imogen Lamport explains it well. Here's the link to her first blog entry on "body shapes explained":

http://www.insideoutstyleblog......pes-8.html

Check the right-hand sidebar for the other body shapes. Hope that helps!

I agree that this is better done with pictures. However, you sound to me -and I'm no expert- like a very slim hourglassy girl with rectangle tendencies (your waist-to-hip ratio is not that accentuated)

Hi Mina- welcome to the board!
The best way to determine your body type is by posting a straight on picture of yourself wearing tight fitting clothing and with your hands down at your sides.

Hiya!
I'm just so confused about my body type. I've been searching the internet for different body shape calculators and they all come up with different suggestion!

My measurements are: Bust-33
Waist 25/26
Hips-35

I'm also very short and measure up to I'm 5 foot 1".

Thank you!
