thanks RobinF. kellygirl I will definitely do an update once I place an order. I imagine that the garment measurements are best used to compare against an item you already have that fits well, at least that's how I plan to use them.

Please let us know how it goes, Chris, if you decide to order. I have a couple of dresses in my cart too but am still trying to figure out the best sizing. I get confused by the body measurement chart vs. the finished garment measurements. I guess the final determination is how much ease you want but I keep going back and forth between the two. Can you tell that I hate returns?!

I noticed that too. Really a 10P is pretty small - too bad they don't go higher. In most things a 10P would work for me but for dresses with a waist probably not.

Boden dresses are a mixed bag in petites. Some are scaled, others are just shorter.

4'11" and short-waisted, and Boden petite dresses sometimes work for me, shoulder to waist, and sometimes not. 36-29-40, 120 lb-ish, usually an 8P or a 10P. The Kassidy--in Angie's roundup today, a v-neck knit with a long full skirt and waist ruching--was too long in the torso for me in a 10P, and I was worried the 8P would be too snug. I love that Boden posts garment measurements and wish that all companies did that.

Good luck!

Sounds like a 10P is dead right.

Toban I agree, that is usually how it works. For boden it looks like they just make the petites longer. 12 looks like the right size but I’m placing a first time ever order with them I expect to order a few different dresses and sizes and it seems like ordering the largest available petite size would make sense.

I don’t know Boden sizing on dresses, but in most clothing lines I find that I am a size smaller in regular than in petites, so if I was a 10P, I would try a 8 regular.

Angie do you know if Boden dresses in petite sizes have a shorter shoulder-to-waist length than the regular sizes, to fit a shorter waisted body? If I look at the body measurements for Boden sizing, it looks like I'd wear a size 12, and I almost always need a petite size in dresses. For dresses the petite sizes seem to only go up to 10P, and the "fit predictor" on their web site also recommends a 10P. The garment measurements do NOT show shoulder-to-waist measurements, which leads me to believe that Boden petite sizes may not have a shorter shoulder-to-waist measurement than their regular sizes.

I am going to try ordering a few dresses and am thinking of trying both a 10P and a 12. Does that sound like the right way for me to go given what you know about Boden sizing?

Thanks!
