san -- Here's what I like about Frye boots (the non-dressy kinds):
- Have that rugged, broken-in look. You don't have to worry about them getting all scratched up, because that is part of the look and how they age.
- Great quality
- Last forever
- Comfortable

I have to say my current Fryes (Veronica slouch) are a bit large for me in the calf area, but I think that is part of the boot style (slightly slouchy motorcycle-ish pull-on boot, unlike something sleeker like that Ava, which should hug the calf). I like the loose look in the Veronica slouch (although I'm sure Angie would disagree! ).

cciele I am curious what it is you like about Fryes? Is it the comfort, or quality? I've never had a pair but I know they have been making them for a long time.

I'm also a fan of riding-style boots, like Inge is. Stylish alternative to stiletto heels. I love Fryes, but they tend to be expensive, unless you find them on sale. Can't wait to see what you've come up with!

I'm sorry to reply so late. THANK YOU so much for your advice!!

I have found some boots on Zappos from $100-130 that could be some options. I'll try to post some soon to get feedback.

Hi there. Kari recently asked about boots, and there are some suggestions in this thread. Maybe that will help?
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....replies=13

Skirts and dresses look fantastic with 'regular' knee-high boots too. (I'm quite partial to riding-style boots). No need to limit yourself to slouchy boots if you don't want to;-)

Welcome to our forum! Although it's a great time to purchase boots from a price point of view, chances are high you won't really get the variety. Unless you are absolutely desperate for boots, I’d hold out till October.

Hello everyone!

I am on the search for black or brown knee-high boots to be worn with skirts/dresses. I need the price range to be below $100 if possible, as I am a poor medical school student.

I'm 5'8" and took a tape measurement around the widest part of my calf of 15".

I don't like the look of slouchy boots, but I wanted to know if that was the only style that worked with skirts/dresses? What is the rule in this case?

I know this is a lot to ask, but I prefer if the boot did not have thin, stiletto-heels.

Thank you so much!!
