For sporty casual, I've loved my timberland Glastonburys (in grey but folded up--like booties--From Nordstrom; Angie recommends the wedge version of these) and Born Kerri booties in curry (zappos). Both are super comfortable and plenty warm with smart wool socks. Many shoes, even if they have more coverage on the top of the foot, have thin enough soles that they are very cold. So I find that creeper soles work best for regular shoes; otherwise I wear boots ("real" boots instead of indoor boots). I have a pair of animal print which I love but those and my ballerinas are not warm enough for our current Bay Area cold and wet weather. I have loafers which are just ok, boots and a pair of Eccos but the Eccos are a bit too drab and not comfortable as I do LOTS of walking. For fun, I am wondering what chic casual Italian and French styles might be out there???? </p>
