I like the slim ankle on the ones you picked, and I think that will make them work OK with skirts - if there's any doubt, pair them with stockings that match a brown tone in the leopard pattern. Mind, that's easy for me to say because I'm in NZ. I think the slightly higher fit is often better -- the boot itself gives shape to the ankle and leg. I have multiple pairs of boots higher than ankle height, and they are now my favorite boots to wear with skirts. The nude-ish colors in the pattern will help with that as well. So if you have a wide foot, you might want to consider that. I have a very wide foot, and I can't wear that brand at all.
