Slips are pretty. I don't wear skirts or dresses too much although I hope to change that. I definitely wear a slip with a dress or skirt that is unlined.

I have some ivory and black half-slips of different lengths that I wear with skirts or dresses that have no lining. I'm not a fan of see-through skirts. I bought mine a long time ago, probably from now-defunct Filene's, but I'm sure you can find them in any department store like J.C. Penney, Macy's, Target, etc.

I've never had to wear a full slip that I can recall, but I have a camisole top made from the same fabric as one of my half-slips, that could function as a full-slip if need be. Those might be good for jersey/wrap dresses that cling?

I won't buy woven skirts or dresses that aren't lined because I don't enjoy wearing slips; however, I often wear slips with jersey dresses when I want to pair them with tights because I don't like how the fabric clings to my legs when I go without.

Kirti, not one of my clients wears a slip! And I don't either. But there is slip-love here so you are sorted

If I owned a dress or skirt that was unlined and not thick (like denim), I'd definitely wear a slip. Right now, all of my dresses and skirts are lined, which is great because I don't have to worry about finding the right slip to go underneath. I still have slips and half slips (of various lengths) in case I ever need them again.

I almost always wear a slip under skirts and dresses. I have a couple cheap half slips that work great. They keep my skirts/dresses from sticking to my tights and underwear and just in general make them look smoother.

Yeah, I use a half-slip for both the issues you described. Definitely check that the length will work with your clothes though, because that's been the one issue I've had, and the peek-a-boo slip is unfortunately not that fab. xD

I like plain, smooth, silky slips in black or nude. Unless you are deliberately going for the lace-peeking-out-underneath look, you need to get one that's a couple of inches shorter than your skirt. I get mine from Target or Amazon as those places tend to have shorter slips for cheap. I find that a lot of department stores only have really long ones that only work with midis...

Heck, yes--I have only one lined skirt for winter, so I would be pretty much out of luck with skirts if I didn't wear slips. I also often wear them to smooth out knit or tricot skirts and dresses, and with sheer skirts in the summer.

I wear half slips for the most part. I have a variety, ranging from black straight short slips (one mid-thigh and one just over the knee) to a longer flared slip in nude (great with sheer summer skirts). I size up for comfort--a medium or large works great for me, although I am a size 6.

You can buy them at any department store or a place like TJ Maxx--they are also easy to find at thrift stores. Vanity Fair is a nice brand. Don't get misled by shapewear--the Spanx "slips" don't really serve the same purpose as a plain slip, especially with sheer skirts.

Funnily enough, I bought a half-slip a few weeks ago to wear under a skirt that was not quite opaque enough in strong sunlight. I bought mine from Target, and it cost about $15. I have since also worn it peeking out from under a dress that I felt was a bit too short ( as a cover-up alternative to leggings). I bought a black one to match the colour of my skirt, but I think a nude one would work well too.

Do people still wear slips under their skirts/dresses? I have a cord skirt that keeps bunching up between my legs when I wear it with tights and I recently bought a dress that is kinda sheer - I think a slip would solve both problems! But I'm not sure where to get one or even what to look for! Help? Do you wear slips? Do you have any recommendations?
